Social Studies? - February 7th 2011, 10:40 PM

Ok... I don't understand this question for homework...

To what extent does a coat of arms express globalization?
How does my global identity affect those around me and how I live?

What the heck does this mean?

Definition of globalization:
Quote:
Globalization is the system of interaction among the countries of the world in order to develop the global economy.
From here.

So the way I see it, if globalization means the system of interaction among the countries of the world, a coat of arms (which is a collection of symbols, colors, etc for a specific group) has something to do with how different groups interpret it. It would affect globalization to the extent of letting other groups, as it were, know more about the group that had the said coat of arms. If that makes any sense...?

As for your second question, I'm not quite sure what is meant by a 'global identity'--I Googled it and found nothing. However, if it's similar to global citizenship:
Quote:
"Global Citizenship is both a moral and ethical disposition which might guide an individual or groups' understanding of local and global contexts- and their responsibilities within different communities
then how your global identity is can affect your choices, which will therefore affect the world around you. For example, if you think that littering isn't all that bad, you will probably litter and not care about it. But if you throw a six-pack thing into the water and it kills an animal, that would be how it would affect the world around you.

I hope this helped! Plus, I owe ya one

Closing since OP seems happy with the answer.
