Transfering - January 10th 2009, 12:12 AM

So this past semester at my school, I simply haven't been as happy there as I have been in the past. In fact, I've been pretty depressed. I've been coming home pretty much as much as possible, and hanging out with my friends that go to the college here. Especially this winter break, I have just been so much more happy, and the thought of going back to school at all is really depressing right now. Which is why i filled out an application to transfer to my college here, but on one hand I just don't think its worth it because I'm in my junior year. But I also don't think its worth being as happy as I have been. I mean when I'm at school I come home from class, lock myself in my room, and do this pretty much every night. I don't seem to connect with anyone at my school like I used to. It's pretty depressing and unhealthy. It also helps that theres a guy I've been seeing here and home, but even when I'm not with him, I"m way happier than I am at school, like I actually do things with friends and such. However, he's also part of the reason I don't want to transfer, because then I"d go to the same school as him, and boys can get pretty distracting for her girls. I don't know I'm just kinda looking for input, because I feel like where I'm going right now is a road of unhappiness, and I just want to be happy like everyone else. :-/

If I were you I would think about tranfering. Theres no reason to be unhappy, if theres a way to be happy. If you transfer you would be able to hang out with your friends and spend more time with your family. Its also alot easier to study if your happy, or at least it is for me. In the end the choice is yours.

You list some great reasons for looking at a transfer. Really it is up to you, and it sounds like it may be the best thing for you to do.

However, sometimes we just get to a point in our lives where we feel stuck. This happens for a lot of people in their first few years of University/College. Though, if you believe that this transfer would help you to feel happy, to feel 'normal' then I would tell you to go for it.

A couple of questions to ask:

Have you looked at the courses you have already taken and checked to see if they will transfer over to the other school?
Does the school you are looking to transfer to have the same program or would you have to change programs?
Would you have to start completely over or could you transfer into close (if not the same) spot you are currently in?

Good luck with whatever your decision may be.
