I've heard that if you use soft water in brewing it tends to leave it bitter or salty. Not sure I'd wanna be drinking that lol. As for the last 2 when water is lacking minerals then you have to make up for them in other things. I would think its better to drink the water regularly rather then softening it up. Hope this helps some.

For the first point (I imagine) - (Pro) Soft water contains less minerals so the build up of lime scale will be reduced and (con) soft water doesn't taste as nice so the beer wouldn't be as nice.
Second and third questions - Hard water has lots of minerals in, especially calcium ions. Can't really thing of advantages of soft water or disadvantages of hard water for these.
