Careers? - February 21st 2012, 12:43 AM

Hi! I am doing an activity with a high school class. The purpose of this activity is to help the students explore what careers they would be interested in for the future.

Each student asks their partner 3 questions which are meant to assess a person’s personality and determine what kind of work they may be suited for. Direct questions (do you like to work inside or outside) or indirect (if you were an animal what would you be?)

For example, if someone want to work outside, would be a shark, and doesn’t care too much about money…that person could be a lifeguard

I have to help the students figure out a career from the answers they give (like the above). However, I think I might have some trouble. Could anybody give me some more examples so that I could prepare to figure out careers?

Thank you!!

Thanks for doing this!

Perhaps maybe try ask some questions that ask about the con's of the job. We can't say too much to scare them, but they would need to know some of them so they are prepare. For example another question for lifeguard might be "Do you enjoy saving lives". Just asking do you like the water wouldn't really explain much about a lifeguard, it could lead to other jobs also such as "Marine Biologist, fisherman..etc"

Well Good Luck, lmk if this helps or if you need clarification/more tips!
