Question Air Force Questions - April 9th 2012, 07:19 AM

It's always been in the back of my mind and I'm truly going to join. Nothing is stopping me. But I have questions.

1. Do girls have only girl MTI's? Do they sleep in the same barrack/bay with guys?

2. What are the most popular jobs and what combat jobs can women have?

3. So far I was thinking Security Forces, SERE, or Translator... Are those good jobs? What jobs should I NOT take?

4. How physically fit should I be right NOW before basic? I can run a mile in 12 minutes, I can do 30 situps, and 15 or more pushups. Am I ready if I needed to ship in a month?

Thanks!

I don't think you're physically fit enough to make boot camp a breeze, but that doesn't mean you couldnt do it.

Re: Air Force Questions - April 9th 2012, 03:42 PM

I'm an army wife so I don't know much on air force rules and regulations they are somewhat different. The one thing I can answer is in any branch boot camp is just h***. My husband spent four hours in a gym trying to prepare and when he got there found himself weaker than the others. I would work towards 100 push ups and sit ups I know that was what he did and that made him stronger.

Army boot camp is harder than air force boot camp though.

True but any boot camp is hard.

It's really not that bad. My sister did it, and my best friend did it. Is it easy? No, there'd be no point. But it's not like it's going to scar you for life.

I don't know about sleeping arrangements, it depends on your base and deployment situation I imagine.

Depends if you're going officer or not, but there are people in a variety of jobs, women cannot have a combat MOS (at least in the army).

Those are all good jobs, you don't want to be an MP, they deal with so much stupid shit, I'd say the biggest question is really, how active do you want to be?

No, you need to be able to do more situps, and a 12 minute mile is too slow, you need to be down to about an 8 minute mile.
