UK fixtures/results for this weekend - August 28th 2013, 10:05 PM

It's a big weekend coming up this weekend with some tasty fixtures, one that stands out is Liverpool vs Manchester United on Sunday in the English Premier League. We may be early on in the season but every match still counts and there are plenty of decent games to be played elsewhere up and down the country too. So, as every teenage lad and working class man awaits eagerly, let's take a look what's in store ....

all following games kick off on Saturday 31st August 2013 all kick off times GMT+1 (UK)

English Premier League

Cardiff City vs Everton (15:00)
Crystal Palace vs Sunderland (17:30)
Manchester City vs Hull City (12:45)
Newcastle United vs Fulham (15:00)
Norwich City vs Southampton (15:00)
West Ham United vs Stoke City (15:00)

Everton look set to face a very tough travel to South Wales, Cardiff proved last weekend they can do their stuff at home and Martinez's side will need to work hard for this one. Away win or score draw will perhaps be a bookies favourite. An expectant home win for Manchester City, although they have already been caught out this season by another newly promoted side.
Elsewhere, there are expectant home wins for Newcastle, Norwich vs Saints will be a very close call as to will West Ham vs Stoke City. An interesting Saturday ahead!

Continuing with Saturday ...

Football League Championship

Barnsely vs Huddersfield Town (15:00)
Birmingham City vs Ipswich Town (15:00)
Blackburn Rovers vs Bolton Wanderers (15:00)
Blackpool vs Watford (15:00)
Brighton and Hove Albion vs Milwall (15:00)
Charlton Athletic vs Leicester City (15:00)
Derby County vs Burnely (15:00)
Doncaster Rovers vs Bournemouth (15:00)
Leeds United vs Queens Park Rangers (12:15)
Middlesborough vs Sheffield Wednesday (15:00)
Wigan Athletic vs Nottingham Forest (15:00)
Yeovil Town vs Reading (15:00)

A brief look and a very tasty Lancashire derby between Bolton and Blackburn whilst two ex-top flight clubs Leeds and QPR go head to head in a potential promotion decider come end of season for these to promotion favourites.

Football League One

Brentford vs Carlisle United (15:00)
Colchester vs Leyton Orient (15:00)
Gillingham vs Bristol City (15:00)
Notts County vs Rotherham United (15:00)
Oldham Athletic vs Tranmere Rovers (15:00)
Peterborough United vs Crawley Town (15:00)
Port Vale vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (15:00)

Shrewsbury Town vs Coventry City (15:00)
Stevenage Borough vs Bradford City (15:00)
Swindon Town vs Crewe Alexandra (15:00)
Walsall vs Preston North End (15:00)

No stand out ties in this one however Leyton Orient and Peterborough will want to continue their winning starts and Wolves will want to remain up there.

Football League Two

AFC Wimbledon vs Fleetwood Town (15:00)
Accrington Stanley vs Burton Albion (15:00)
Bristol Rovers vs Northampton Town (15:00)
Bury vs Cheltnham Town (15:00)

Portsmouth vs Chesterfield (15:00)
Scunthorpe United vs Newport County (15:00)
Torquay United vs Hartlepool United (15:00)
Wycombe Wanderers vs Southend United (15:00)

Some interesting matches and some interesting journeys; Hartlepool, Chesterfield, Rochdale, Plymouth, York, Cheltnham, Burton and Fleetwood all having to make 250+ round trips for this one!

Non-League Premier

Barnet vs Hyde United (15:00)
Cambridge United vs Tamworth (15:00)
Dartford vs Lincoln City (15:00)
Forest Green Rovers vs Alfreton Town (15:00)

Hereford United vs Welling United (15:00)
Kidderminster Harriers vs Luton Town (15:00)
Macclesfield Town vs Braintree Town (15:00)
Salisbury City vs AFC Halifax Town (15:00)
Southport vs Aldershot Town (15:00)
Woking vs Gateshead (15:00)
Wrexham vs Chester City (13:00)

Wrexham and Chester who used to be mainstays in the Football league will battle out a mouthwatering clash in North Wales in the pick of the lot. Wrexham of course being just based in North Wales with Chester a few miles down the road to the East in England. A very tasty derby for these two promotion favourites.

Eastbourne Borough vs Farnborough (15:00)
Havington and Waterlooville vs Tonbridge Angels (15:00)
Maidenhead United vs Bishops Stortford (15:00)
Sutton United vs Whitehawk

So that's your lot for England ... now let's head up North into Scotland and see what's in store.

Scottish Premiership

Aberdeen vs St. Johnstone (15:00)
Dundee United vs Glasgow Celtic (12:45)
Hibernian vs Ross County (15:00)
Inverness Caledonian Thistle vs Heart of Midlothian (15:00)
St Mirren vs Partick Thistle (15:00)
Motherwell vs Kilmarnock (15:00)

Celtic face a possible toughey away at Dundee but are in need of all 3 points after a bleak 2-2 draw at Celtic Park last weekend. St Johnstone will look to continue their fine form whilst Inverness CT will wish to continue to top the table (Celtic do have a game in hand). At the bottom St Mirren, still on minus figures for there financial issues, will just simply want to win and nothing else.

Cowdenbeath vs Dumbarton (15:00)
Falkirk vs Hamilton Academical (15:00)
Morton vs Raith Rovers (15:00)

The only game that I really have any interest in is the Liverpool vs Manchester United. Not familiar with any other teams. I'm sure the whole thing will be interesting an fun to watch though!

As an Evertonian, I can say that I'm not 100% confident about our trip to Cardiff after what we saw last week, but I think that match said more about Man City than it said about Cardiff, really. I would be disappointed if we lost to them, honestly.

Liverpool vs Man United is definitely an interesting one. I probably wouldn't mind seeing United beat our dear neighbours in that one.
