Soccer or American Football - January 13th 2009, 02:13 PM

Well a close friend of mine and I always have an argument about which is better, more exciting and more of a manly tough sport.

I personally am more into soccer. And you'd think that when it's practically the most popular game all over the world, it's obviously better.

Anyways, what sport do you prefer?

Absolutely American football. I think soccer has a more worldwide appeal because it's easier to play.

Some would argue stopping all the time, is far easier than a constant 45 min half of match, which involves moving constantly. And then a further 45 mins.

And I would argue that rugby is harder than both, 80 min matches, no protective gear and a constant fast paced game.

Any one can play football (soccer). But to play it on a professional level requires knowledge of the game, and experiance.

Also all the stopping and starting in American Football is really annoying =/

I think one big reason why American football is much more appealing to the majority of American sports fans is because there is much more action (specifically, touchdowns, a big play is appealing). While in soccer, there usually isn't much goal scoring. Nevertheless, I think both sports are fun to watch. I love the excitement when a player is about to score a goal and/or does a special trick.

Soccer, though I would call it football.

American Football is just rugby for wimps.

I like both. But I voted "soccer". (I hate that word, it's football darnit, anytime someone calls it "soccer," a British person dies.)

I also think Rugby, much like it's been stated above, is more difficult and fast-paced than gridiron football. But I can agree with the reasons stated as to why some prefer gridiron football over real football/rugby.

Football (otherwise known as soccer) is clearly better than American Football, mainly because the teams don't pause for a break every thirty seconds or so. See also rugby, which is like American Football only without the constant pauses and the body armour, turning it into a game of skill and tactics instead of a "who can inject the most steroids?" competition.

Football all the way. In real football...we actually do use our feet to kick the ball.

I've had this argument so many times with American football players xD

Not in America Marie. In America Football = Rugby + More armour than the army of a small country and a ten minute stop every five minutes so the stars' hair does not get messy
