regrets about soccer? - June 28th 2009, 03:34 AM

okay. so for a while i have been thinking about quitting soccer because i dont love it anymore and i dont want it controling my life. so today i broke down in tears and told my mom cause we were at soccer tryouts. well she told my soccer cooch and he got mad. well i dont play soccer anymore. i like soccer but i dont love it and i dont enjoy playing the way i do anymore. my options were play and it control my life or only play when friends want to play for fun. so i chose just playing soccer with friends. i mean there is other things i have always wanted to do but never got the chance because of soccer. do you think i will regret my decision to quit something that makes me depressed and and that i dont enjoy? or should i keep playing cause maybe in the long run i will enjoy it? please help me

No. You should do something because you love it. They made me do that with tennis and it completely took over my life... and now that i graduate besides my awards for it i have nothing else to show for my high school years...

Hiya,

I think you made the right decision. I know how difficult it must have been for you.

If you don't love the sport or play it with the same passion as you use to, then there's no point in continuing in the sport with a regular team.

Like I'm sure you realize, it doesn't cut you off from playing it all together. Now you can play on your own free will, and your schedule is free for other activites you want to fill it up with.

You are still young and you shouldn't have just one thing controlling your life for so long. Now is the time to branch out to another activity! Learn something new.

Don't regret your decision. You did what you felt was right. Take care of yourself hun. PM me anytime if you want to talk. =)

Wake up.
You're Alive.
We're on your side.
