Marching Band! - October 2nd 2010, 01:53 PM

Cuz believe it or not, it's a sport.
Anyone else consider it one? And anyone else actually in the marching band? If you are, what do you play? I play flugelhorn m'self. ^^ Best. Choice. Ever.

You have to compete, and if you've ever put your all into it, you'd know that just eight minutes can leave you panting. xD Marching band is competitive. The trophies can be as big as the person! >:U It's crazy.

I dont really consider marching band a sport...its more a performing art.

But I was in color guard which has way more sport in it than the band.

yup. show choirs are the same thing...they compete...or when high schools have plays or musicals, you get awards when competing other local schools.

I don't think of it as a sport, but I do marching band. It's fun! Hard work sometimes, which I don't usually go for, but fun.

I used to love marching band, but I just didn't have time for it this year. :P I used to play snare. Yeah, I'm a drummer. Don't judge.

Who are you to tell me that I'm less than what I should be?

I'm stronger than that.

There was a joke that went around in our band that went like "if marching band were any easier, it'd be called football!" we had several of the football players in our band that agreed

O.o it's a sport?

And they're all too formal and gah! for my liking, plus I think people look funny in the costumes, and it's just funny in general D=

The animal instinct, the wanton man
She fed him with a hunger, an appetite
And fillin' with emotion he took a bite'

Re: Marching Band! - October 4th 2010, 03:35 PM

Try running backwards 20 yards while playing an instrument only to have to run forward while playing to the next spot after that....it takes a lot more lung power to run and play an instrument than it does to just run. that's why the football players all agreed...It is a performing art, but it's also sport like. We run around on a field playing instruments for a 10+ min for a show and hours at a time during practice.
