Do you pay for a gym membership? - June 21st 2011, 02:07 PM

I was wondering how many people here pay to go to a gym or how many people work out at home?

I pay for a gym membership because I do not have a lap swim pool at my house.

I have a gym membership but I don't pay because I got it free through my doctor. I haven't been for a while though.

I don't go to a gym. I work out at home as well as train at a marital arts academy, which my father helps run and I sometimes help teach so we both get a massive discount.

I don't pay for a gym membership because our garage is pretty much a gym so I go in there to workout.

Re: Do you pay for a gym membership? - June 23rd 2011, 01:15 PM

Nope. I go swimming but not regularly so I usually pay when I go instead of paying for a membership.

I am part of a summer softball team at my local gym and that was £10 for 8 weeks.
I would rather pay as I go instead of pay for a membership because I don't go often enough for it to be worth it. When I go to uni I will probably pay to join the uni gym though.

Rest of the time I just walk or run.

Yes, the place where I go has everything included swimming pool, gym, spa, tennis court, basketball, football basically it's a really nice place to go workout or just relax it's more like a club but I usually go to the gym.

Re: Do you pay for a gym membership? - June 23rd 2011, 06:55 PM

I don't need to pay to join a gym. some of the parks here have open gyms with some 'outdoor gym equipment' in them. So if I ever want to go to the gym I can just go along to my local park or one of the local parks and use the equipment there. I've used it before and it's pretty damn fun. It does not really feel like you are in a gym either. More in a park with equipment made for adults Then again where I work kinda gives me a work out too as we have to pack away tables and such like each day. So I also see where I work as a free gym membership even though its a pre school rather than a gym I also do alot of walking during the week and go to karate once a week, and if I really feel the need I can go on the wii fit or the just dance on wii and have a good work out on there too.

I have a gym membership...I joined the gym at uni, so it's really convenient, I just go there everyday after classes. I also go running at a local oval though because I'm not a huge treadmill fan! I find going to the gym is really good in winter, because I don't have the motivation to go out walking or running when it's cold and rainy!

Yeah, I pay £15.99 a month for the gym but I also work out at home. I'm a slight fitness freak so I guess that's why I do both.

I just work out at home. I have a tredmil, weights, exercise videos things like that. I'd rather work out in private. I feel like everybody's watching me when I do it in front of people.

I don't have to pay for a membership. Currently, I live on campus and the activities center is free for all students. :] It's been really useful these past few months ^_^

Yea. I pay about £160 a year, which is quite cheap. Work out for about 2 hours on average every day, plus some extra in my room.

I pay $27 a fortnight and go as often as I can.
There's also some fitness equipment at the park and I use that sometimes but because I come home from work in the dark, it's a bit hard haha.
But I love going to the gym. I can use the cardio and weights equipment, swimming pool, spa and steam room as it's all included and can go as often as I want.

I'm not big on gyms. I do most of my exercise either at home, in the great outdoors, or at the dojang.

Yes I do pay for my membership. If I wanted to get some nice figure I have to do that can't consider the cost.

I don't pay for a gym membership because at my house there is exercise equipment here.
Even though my mom recently offered me the idea of a personal trainer at the local fitness center.

I'm too young for the gym so I 'work out' at home, although when I'm older I'll probably get one because the running machines are so much better than having to work out a route

I used to have a gym membership, but my family really only used it during the winter months, and not too often at that, so we canceled it.

The TAFE I go to has a Gym on campus which is free. I don't really go there tho because the hours it's open to students don't fit my schedule.

Re: Do you pay for a gym membership? - July 3rd 2011, 08:32 PM

I pay for a gym membership mainly because there's nowhere at home to stick the kind of equipment I like to use (crosstrainer, bike, rowing machine, free weights and cable weights take a lot of space!). Having said that I nearly broke myself with the programmes I was doing - combining weights and lots of cardio in one session is a REALLY bad idea folks - so I haven't been using it nearly enough to justify how much I'm paying for it. Need to address that over the summer...

However bleak things seem, however insurmountable the darkness appears, remember that you have worth and nothing can take that away.
