giving up volleyball? -
July 9th 2011, 06:51 AM
So i have to decide whether im going to play volleyball this year. The reasons i want to: i love the game! Reasons i dont want to / cant: my mother says i have to get a job if i want to drive, i hate the vb head coach cuz he cusses us out. Most of the girls are b*tches. Plus even if i do try out I dont play on the Club team that the coach likes I play on a different one, and he pretty much only picks girls from that club. So idk what im going to do either not try out or try out and not make it and all my friends do, or in the slim chance i do make the team ill be a bench warmer and the girls wont like me. Gah i hate having to make decisions like this!!!!!
Feel free to PM or VM me

I think the answer is simple: try out. If you don't make it, oh well, better incentive for a job. If you do make it, then you can always leave if you don't like it. Besides, you can get a job on the side and play volleyball. Although I don't play volleyball, when I competed provincially and nationally in other sports, I still held a job, went to university, learned to drive, etc... . More recently, I help with training other students for tournaments with their sparring (the only students I've lost to when I try my best are some of the black belts and the sensei).
I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

You should definately give it a go, you'll regret it if you don't! Maybe you could try and find a different club near where you live, but if not you could always pull out if you hate it! Xxx

If you love the game that much then you should try out because if you enjoy it and you're good at it then you shouldn't let other factors come into play and put you off competing at a sport that you love. I agree with everyone else who has said that you should try out. If you don't make it then at least you can say that you tried rather than wonder if you would have made it or not. It's so much better to give something a try than to have to spend such a long period of time wondering "what if". If you try out, get in and then decide that it's not for you then I guess you could always drop out? At least you would have given it a try though. However, at the end of the day it's your decision and if it's going to make you unhappy and you don't want to do it then nobody can force you.
I hope that this has helped you in one way or another and I hope that you manage to make a decision on what you're going to do. Good luck!
