As the title asks,
Who is your favourite artist and why? Feel free to post your favourite composition too. :) This thread is to discuss your favourite visual artist (for example someone who produces paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, printmaking etc.) and I like Gerhard Richter too - especially his Baader-Meinhof collection. I'd probably consider Nadav Kander to be my favourite photographer. Honestly though, I could be here all day listing artists :P |

i dont really have one, i seem to like alot of different music, i tend to liek rap, hip, hop, r'n'b, country, rock, pop, im into abit of everything so i dont reall have a favorite artisit.

Are we talking about music artist, or painting artist?
 I think that Sports and Entertainment is still for music. At least, it still lists music there. Ok. My favorite painter is Edgar Degas. Yes, he is an old school French guy from forever ago, but he paints such pretty pictures of people dancing! I have two of them hanging above my desk.

Ahhh, being an art student I like
Dali -he's a legend in his own right, I like all surrealism to be honest, I like the fact that everytime you look at it you notice different things. Tara Mcpherson -her work just looks so animated, but really good, I dunno it's just really nice. Dale Chiluly -his work is just beautfiul and so fluid looking. Their probably my favourites

Dalí will forever be my favourite artist - and I see I'm not the only one who likes him.
His whole way of surrealism just - I could stare at his art for days on end and never grow tired. In a completely different way I am in love with James Nachtwey's photojournalism, the way he shows those terrible stories to the world. "All because of you I believe in angels. I love Dale Chihuly as Stacey has already mentioned. His pieces leave me gasping in awe everytime. It's just so unfathomable how someone can create such works of geniuses, his paintings are just as creative and beautiful but his sculptures are out of this world.
William Morris for his amazing vintage creations! Without him, design as we know it today would not exist. <3 gah i love that dude. I rather like Banksy for his controversy and modern take on art. I also likee KATE MALONE, her jugs and things are gorgeous and very unsual but in a good, quirky way! Uhm....i do rather like me some Julian Beever. His work leaves me awestruck too!  Henry Moore's sculptures are brilliant, they're abstract but really striking, and i always feel a sense of futuristicness when i look at them. He's important for his textiles work too which is like repetitive patterns during the war period. I love a lot of artists really & it's just like she's in another world. [<3] |

I really like Keith Thompson's work as well as Jeff Thomas's art (he's the Pon and Zi guy if anyone is wondering).
I really like illustrations, cartoons, and animations the best. I do like classical art, but I would not say I have a favourite classical artist.  The great artists of our time are the ones who created something timeless. But it was never them defining it that way. Everyone has a story. What's yours? |

Lol I feel bad for not having a favorite abstract artist or anything. I read a lot of manga and I observe a lot of different styles.
Yoshihiro Takahashi is one of my favorites for his unique Canine designs and characters http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/gi...fe/2afbc40.png And I like Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, not just because of the story line, but I like how all the characters are designed and no character really looks alike.   |

Oddly enough I may have to go with Roberto Matta. Recently for Spanish class we were assigned paintings and, although I may not get abstract art, something in me really likes it.
