Hi everyone!
I've started to really consider volunteering abroad though a company called Cross Cultural Solutions (http://www.crossculturalsolutions.org). I think it's something I'd really like to do, particularly the Women's Empowerment program, and I'm aiming to head to Dharamsala, India. I'd stay there for 4 weeks, which would end up costing me (according to the website $3,600) $5,000 (tickets would cost about $800, plus the cost of a passport, immunizations, train tickets from and back to New Dehli to Dhramasala, and a visa- so I estimated $5,000). Now, obviously being a poor college student, this is a lot of money. So, I'd have to fundraise. So, my first question for you guys is - Do you have any idea as to how I can fundraise? I am an artist, and I am planning on tapping in to my local religion's community via making cards and such. I also have thought about dying my own fabric and then making little journals and accordian books. But... how the HECK am I going to raise $5,000!?!? Ideaaaas? I'm also... well, nervous, because I have never been out of the country... not even to Canada! So... I dunno... Help? ![]() |

If you want to go to India, It's probably going to take a lot of saving up. Get a job, ask your parents/family. See if any churches want to fund. Maybe you can looking into studying abroad.
At one point I was living with three Indians, my boyfriend, and my friend Deb. It's a whole other culture, and it's pretty cool. I went to Mexico for my missions trip. That's what I want to do for life, mingle with other cultures and travel. My boyfriend is Mexican as well, so I have a hispanic influence. Maybe you could just go to Mexico? Geek? Nerd? More like intellectual badass. ![]() "You ran through Africa, and Asia, and Indonesia.. And now I've found you, and I love you. I want to know your name." |
