Question I Just Wanna Belong - March 7th 2014, 11:05 PM

I just wanna belong somewhere so I'm saving up to $1000 till I'm about 18 so I can get a plane ticket to Scotland. I really need to know if anybody knows how to earn more money for my age group because I don't get a allowance and I can't babysit.VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!! DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE SOMEONE CAN TRADE U.S. DOLLARS FOR SCOTTISH MONEY (FORGOT WHAT IT WAS CALLED)

I know I already helped you out a bit with this, but I wanted to add some more ideas for getting money at your age!

Here are some more ideas :
Washing cars
Dog walking or dog sitting
Rake leaves or shovel snow for neighbors
Watch after a neighbor's house when they are away (water plants, feed pets, etc.)
Clean a neighbor's house
You might also be able to do a few extra chores around your house, too!

Random jobs like this might not seem like they pay much, but, over time, the money will start to add up! Good luck!

Find your light in a new dawn.

Lawnmowing and babysitting are definitely great options. Also, you can get a job pretty soon. Kids here can do stuff like referee little kids' sports games at a pretty young age (12 or 13) so you can consider doing that or another similar job soonish.

May I ask, why Scotland?

Many of the others' suggestions are very good. But seeing you are eleven, it would be a good idea to always have a friend accompany you when odd-jobbing. My sister Kitty is 12, and though our family circumstances are different, there is no way I'd allow her to be out alone in our village unless she has a friend with her. You can never be too careful, and never enter a person's house alone. Of course, that's common sense, but I thought I'd mention it.

If you do wash cars, get a good chamois leather. These can't be beat for washing cars and wringing off excess water. Chamois leather being gentle and soft in composition is good for car and window washing, and can be bought in most hardware stores.

Ask your parents to put your savings into a high interest savings account. Put money in every week. Keeing a notebook on your income is useful as well as encouraging. Good luck!
