Going from a house of 2 people to a house with 7? - February 27th 2012, 08:23 PM

My mom and me are moving into her boyfriends house. We live by ourselves now. At her boyfriends house there are 2 roomates, my moms boyfriend, and 4 kids from ages 7 to 15.I know nothing about living with a lot of people. Its gonna be a big transition for me. I know im not gonna have any privacy. Does anyone have any idea's on how i can get away sometimes??
Thanks in advance for advice. <3

Hey there. Living with a lot of people can definitely be tough, but it's great that you recognize that you're going to need some "you" time and that you're seeking out ways to get that.
Is there a park or something like that close to where you'll be living? Maybe you could go for a walk there and hang out. Also, getting out on the weekends when you're not in school. Just going and doing something you enjoy.
Getting involved at school! Maybe try out a new extracurricular activity, something that meets after school.
And, if nothing else, while you're there, just put in some headphones and listen to some music while you read a book or something. If there's a porch or a backyard, go hang out there. And, if you need to talk about how the move affects you, then by all means, talk to your mom. It's only natural for it to be a hard transition to make. Just try to keep communication up, and make sure you have some "you" time on a regular basis!

Hope this helped. Best of luck!
