That's a great list!!

I haven't seen 'Speak' or 'Jakob the liar'. [But they're now on my 'must see list'!] I've always loved sad movies. Not sappy sad. But real life sad.

Here's just some of the sad movies I've seen. And loved! [In addition to 'The Fisher King', 'Schindler's list' and 'Philadelphia']

Contact [Jodie Foster]
Ordinary People [1980 Academy Award - 'Best Picture']
Griffin and Phoenix [Original 1976 TV movie]
Awakenings [Another 'Robin Williams' film]
Brokeback Mountain [Heath Ledger/ Jake Gyllenhaal]
The Green Mile [Tom Hanks]

My dad and mom watched Griffin and Phoenix years ago and loved it. My dad really likes sad movies.

Awakenings was such a good movie but the ending was devastating. I absolutely love Robin Williams. He was good in Patch Adams as well and that was a pretty sad movie.

The Green Mile was beautiful in it's own right and it has Tom Hanks.

Thanks for the list. I think I am going to look into the ones I haven't seen and try and watch them.

I haven't seen Speak but I'm going to try to see it soon now that you've mentioned it.

I really loved Hachi. The first time I saw it I cried a lot. I also like Gifted. I saw that in the theater recently. It isn't entirely sad but there are a few sad scenes and people were crying in the theater.

I am sure there are other movies but I am drawing a blank. I really do like sad movies though, because I can cry over them and still get some kind of comfort as an alternative to being unable to cry about other things.

I love sad films. I have a long list.

Hatchi - one of the saddest films I've ever watched. I saw it twice and I don't think I can put myself through that again.
Green Mile - Killed me when I watched it, granted it was at about 3am so I was tired too but I cried like a baby.
Me Before You - recently watched this one, yet again, cried like a baby.
The Danish Girl
P.S. I Love You
Brokeback Mountain
The Notebook
The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas

There are probably way more than this!

Pay It Forward. I had no idea what happened was gonna happen until it happened. It ruined the whole thing for me but later on, it made sense. I wish I had been warned in advance. Watched it in high school.

A Walk to Remember. This always saddens me, if you like a love story with a bittersweet ending, definitely check it out. Also, one of the main characters has wonderful development, going from a jerk to the sweetest guy.
