13 reasons why (revival) - August 17th 2017, 09:52 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

There's a thread, but is closed, i guess it just happens if nobody posts for a certain amount of time, but not sure exactly on the policy.

I put it as triggering suicide as it's about that, and is a thread in a regular film and tv section. I just thought people would talk quite a bit into the show itself and i didn't want anyone whos not heard of this, but has had suicide problems to read about this

What's your favourite part so far? i've watched 7 of the episodes so far and the seventh is my favourite because clay just got everyone told at the end
i couldnt have said it any better

anyone whos into this share your thoughts too. i've got quite a bit to see, and i will make sure i do, so you can be sure i won't let this thread die out

i'm so glad you started this again! i have this stupid, egotistic tendency to avoid any "trends" just to be a little rebel, because i'm "too cool to follow the crowd", so i avoided watching 13 Reasons Why for a really long time because of that. i'm super happy i finally gave in to all the buzz about it, because i loved this series.

i don't really want to spoil any parts for you, so i don't want to say my favorite part just yet. but honestly, now that i think about it, i don't really know of one specific moment that i love more than any others. i love the show, but it's definitely hard to watch, and i think 90% of it made me uncomfortable and sad. but that's kind of what i love about it. shows and movies rarely ever affect me the way this one did.
a lot of people complain about the suicide and rape scenes being too graphic and disturbing. but honestly, as both a rape victim and former self-harm addict, while those scenes were extremely difficult to watch, they also made a huge impact on me. i can't exactly put my finger on it, but i know that i made some type of healing progress just from watching how the characters reacted to those situations and in those situations, and being able to relate to it completely.

a lot of people seem to think the suicide scene will cause people to end their own lives too, but in my opinion it did the opposite for me. it made me bawl my eyes out because i felt so sorry, because there was a time where i almost put my family and my friends through that. when you're suicidal you don't really think about what your family would do when they find you, or what the aftermath will be. you just want it to end. so i'm so glad they included the full extent of that terrible scene, i think it brings a lot of reality to the issue rather than just breezing over it.

i'd like to hear your thoughts on that too when you get to that part.

i don't know what i'm supposed to do

episode 8 (which i've just watched!) has a great plot to it. To jog your memory, Hannah decides to try her hand at poetry. She finds it's mostly old folks there but there is one other teenager, a boy, who seems so nice at first that what he did shocked me. Hannahs poetry that she shared was of her personal thoughts and the people there understood and saw the meaning in it, but that boy had everyone at the school hear it and they found it more laughable than anything

im guessing there only are the 13 episodes? it would make more sense, since each episode is literally about something which hurt hannah and is why she commited suicide. No one thing on its' own is a big deal, but having all of them happen to you could really push you to the edge. It's like with me when someone says i overreacted over one small thing and i try to stress how it wasn't because of just that, but a lot of things
