Movie group watch - August 19th 2018, 03:42 PM

Hey all,

I am sorry that this idea kind of died down. I still want to try and do it but I had a stressful month. Anyway, I was thinking we could try and plan to watch something in September such as Coco or Finding Dory. I'd personally love Coco but want to make sure that everyone has access to it.

I know there is a streaming service (that's legal) where people can watch movies so that could be an option for Coco. I think I own coco so I might be able to figure a way to do it but I'd have to talk to my boyfriend.

If Coco is on netflix or some other service in other countries could someone let me know?

What I was thinking was starting it some time towards the middle of September. Everyone seemed like they wanted to watch it and then discuss it in a thread.

I was thinking of opening the thread one weekend in September and then whoever watches it can contribute their thoughts. It would contain spoilers. I might open the thread in the social group but might do it in the forums so other members who've seen the movie can contribute.

I was thinking of opening the thread on the 15th of September.

Is everyone okay with this particular time? Also, we could try and choose between Finding Dory and Coco. The main thing stopping me from wanting to do Coco is I am unsure that other people will have access.

I don't think Coco or Finding Dory is available on Netflix in the UK.

The streaming service you are on about....I don't suppose you know if it's available in Europe? Only with the new GDPR rules some services aren't available anymore to those in Europe.

That said, I'm more than happy to rent

Definitely up for this, if the movie is Coco. I love that movie. And I'll be recovering from a procedure next month so it would be perfect timing for me.

Re: Movie group watch - August 21st 2018, 06:11 AM

I would like to do this... My only problem is if we don't have a set time and day to watch the movie but have a week to watch it on our own and discuss it then I won't be able to that, because I find way too much stuff to do and get distracted I will forget. That's why I can of like the idea of the streaming site that way some of us can watch it together but then people that can't can watch it on there own and still discuss. I also vote for coco I haven't seen it yet and want to.

This sounds like a good idea! I'm not sure if Coco is available on Netflix in the UK, but here in the States it is available.

Re: Movie group watch - August 22nd 2018, 01:34 AM

The main reason I wanted to set it up for a week is to allow people in different time zones to be able to participate. It would still be possible for people to watch the movies together but there would be a set period instead of a set day as that will be difficult to figure out. It will be hard to get everyone together especially with the different time zones.

I think the week of September 15th sounds great! I have seen Finding Dory, I believe it's available within OnDemand. Not sure about Coco, I will have to check that one out. If I have to choose between either one, I would choose Coco as I haven't seen that one yet.

Coco isn't available on Netflix here in Australia but I'm quite happy to buy the DVD because I know my little sister will love it too.

Coco is cool with me! I’ve seen it before but it’s a movie I like watching over and over again.

It looks like the majority of people are okay with coco. I am going to look into some things. I am still leaning towards opening the thread around September 15th as I think I'll need something to pass the time that week.

I'm still game! My surgery is scheduled for the 20th, so anything to help pass the time away sounds good.

Re: Movie group watch - August 25th 2018, 06:21 AM

So I maybe opting out of this watch session. Since that is the week of my birthday and I have a hair appointment on the 19th, therapy on the 20th and my birthday on the 21st. I may try to watch it before hand and discuss it when the thread opens but it may not happen.
