Re: The Exorcist - February 20th 2010, 05:16 PM

Wow, I haven't watched it in a few years, but I think my reaction was the same when I first saw it. You expect it to be horribly scary after hearing all the hype there was, but you have to remember when this movie came out it was pretty shocking for its time, especially considering all the religious/sexual aspects. Nowadays we're used to amazing special effects in movies and if they're not there we get kinda bored but I think the Excorcist is only known as such a scary movie because it was one of the first of its time to break new boundaries.

I didn't find it scary either. My mum never wanted me to watch it as it give my aunt nightmares for weeks  never really understood why. Then again I don't think I've ever been scared by a horror movie :/

I thought it was funny. Like bitesize said, we're all used to fancy special effects and stuff. Anything else isn't very impressive, and some parts of it were so cheesy and easy to make fun of that it just wasn't scary. There were maybe two scenes in the whole thing that I found even remotely frightening.

I did enjoy the movie, but I really didn't find much of it scary. The creepiest part to me was when the girl went down the stairs backwards. The rest of it was kind of boring.

^ that part was kind of creepy, but more in a disturbing way than in a scary way.

Actually yeah most of it is that really; it's not so much actuallt frightening as just ....disturbing.
