X Factor Audition - March 8th 2010, 05:04 PM

I'm auditioning for the X Factor in May, i went last year and froze and forgot my words because my song choice wasn't that great. I sang Heaven by Bryan Adams.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a good vocal song, i can go quite high but not all the way.

Thanks if you can help x

What sort of things do you usually sing?

You could type in the artists on last.fm and see what songs come up or you could just type in female vocals to find new artists.

I can think of...
Martina McBride - Concrete Angel
Maria McKee - Show Me Heaven
Avril Lavinge - I'm With You

I'd say you should sing whatever feels natural for you. Don't attempt to sing a song that you're going to end up forcing out notes with. If you have a group of close friends, sing a couple of songs of your choice and ask them what suits you best. Try not to go for typical run-of-the-mill audition songs though, as judges get bored seeing the same thing no matter how good your voice is.

Good luck hun!

Hrmm maybe try singing something you've been singing a while, something you're familiar with? The more comfortable and familiar you are with a song, the less likely you'll be to freeze or forget the words. Try finding a song that suits your range.. don't go higher or lower than you're comfortable with, chose something that feels natural coming out.

Best of luck!

If you write your own stuff and sing your own stuff... definitely sing that.

I don't like to whizz in people's pockets, so I will always give you truth. I'm opinionated, so take what I say with a cup of salt.
