A New Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) - May 3rd 2010, 01:04 PM

So, let me first say that I absolutely love Freddy Krueger movies! I've been in love with them since they first came out. I'm skeptical about this new one since the original actor who played Freddy for so many years isn't doing it. Has anyone seen it? I plan on seeing it soon, once the hype has died down some. Apparently the movie did really well in its first weekend. Made 32.2 million. Anyway, let me know how you liked it if you saw it! And please, no spoilers.

Re: A New Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) - May 3rd 2010, 02:14 PM

I actually saw this last night. This was the first Freddy Krueger movie i've seen, so I didn't know what was supposed to happen. My friends who had seen the old one said this remake was pretty much the same and very predictable. I thought the first 30 minutes were the best part of the film. I just felt like after that, they were trying way too hard to build suspense and make it scary. Anyways, I didn't really like this movie very much, it just felt like it dragged on and on. Some of the special effects were pretty cool though. :]

I've seen a bit of the first nightmare on elm street but none of the others. Tbh I think that this'll end up being like a lot of other horror remakes - rubbish compared to the original.

The one and only freddy is Robert Englund. No one can beat him.

I love Nightmare on Elm Street. Got the boxset.

This new one, well Iv read a few reviews and it seems to be aweful.

Anyway, when I see it, thats when I will judge it

Seeing that Robert Englund is not Freddy Krueger in this movie, that's a real let down for me. But I still want to see the movie because I'm curious about whether it's up to par or not.

So, I just got home from seeing this, and it was absolutely amazing! I wasn't let down by it at all. Sure, Robert didn't play Freddy, but the movie was still freakin' scary as crap! I can't remember the last time I jumped so much during a damn movie, haha.

Same, I saw it the other night, first time seeing a Nightmare Before Elm Street movie. Personally, I liked it. I'm not big on movies, usually struggle to sit through them, but this one had me holding my bladder for half an hour.

But I guess it may also depend on if you've seen the others or not, and what you look for in a movie. Personally, I liked certain things about it most, but telling you such would be a spoiler.

I saw wes craven's new nightmare a few weeks ago on tv and i thought the whole thing was laughable....tbh i cracked up a lot, especially near to the end. It was so naff. New horror movies are even more laughable as they try too hard. I'm one of those people who doesn't get scared easily though.

Is Robert Englund still playing Freddy? If not I'm probably not going to see it...

I went to see it last week.

I mean I love Robert Englund, but this new guy is not bad, not bad at all.

Didnt beat the original, not near enough. But for a remake it wasnt bad.
