Just seeing the thread made my day.
I'm a huge fan. Hands down my favorite band. Saw them 11 times, don't plan on stopping. =] If you couldn't tell, one of my favorite songs by them is The Crowing. ^-^ Honestly, their first 3 albums are simply amazing, listen to them all, you won't regret it. IKSSE3 was always my favorite album as a whole, and has a few of my favorite songs on it.
But once I actually sat down and listened to Good Apollo, it blew me away. Much more technical instrumentally, and the story is more complex. If we're going as a general, I'd say IKSSE3, but in terms of skill/complexity, Good Apollo Listen to the Willing Wells and you'll know what I mean. =P "Although only breath, words which I command are immortal." I'm a massive Coheed fan, no need to tell me about the Willing Wells, they're my favourite thing the band has done. I can't decide between the two albums though. IKSOSE:3 is a lot more accessible with songs like Blood Red Summer and Favor House Atlantic...you really need to sit down and digest Good Apollo. But it's so worth it. Both amazing.

Exactly. IKSSE has more hits, more songs that are much easier to listen to. And songs like The Light and the Glass, 21:13.. Great songs. But you're also right with Good Apollo. You really have to fully listen to it to appreciate it. When I first listened to it after it came out, I wasn't fond of it, but now it's probably my most listened to.
