Thumbs up Star Trek movie!!! - May 8th 2009, 03:52 AM

I just saw the Star Trek movie!!! it was soooo good!!!
If you like Star Trek at all you HAVE to go see it.
and i saw it four hours early because my town is so obscenely small that the local theater knew that none of the producers or whatever would know that they'd shown it at 8:00 instead of midnight!!!!

Go see it!!!

or, good luck

Really?? Me and my dad want to see it, it looked so good! So it'd be completely worth it to pay obscene amounts of money at the theatre, then?

Re: Star Trek movie!!! - May 8th 2009, 01:36 PM

My stepbrother and I are definitely planning to go see it with a friend of his next weekend. It would be this weekend, but he's not going to be home most of the weekend and I've got a busy weekend ahead, and we agreed that we'd see this awesomeness together.

John Cho as Sulu? Win.
Simon Pegg as Scotty? Double Win.
Zachary Quinto as Spock? Triple Win.
Leonard Nemoy in a cameo as Spock from the future? Mind-blowingly huge win.

Re: Star Trek movie!!! - May 9th 2009, 03:33 PM

I saw Star Trek yesterday in IMAX. It was exhilarating! I was a bit unsure about how Abrams was going to portray the universe we all love, but turns out I had nothing to worry about! The new ST is soooo cool, yet it preserves the vibe of the original series. We clapped for things like first seeing the USS Enterprise The audience was just so great! And Nimoy fits in there perfectly. <3 For those who think it's just another mindless blockbuster, you couldn't be farther away from the truth. I totally saw the connection with the original installments, and the experience was unforgettable!

SPOILER ALERT

The Spock getting together with Uhura was a bit "umm, huh?" but they tied it in really well, so it worked out.

END SPOILER

So, yeah, GO SEE STAR TRECK RIGHT NOW if you have not already done so!

Love,
-Tiger

My brother just went to go see this movie with his friends tonight!!! I can't believe he went without me

But I am definitely going this weekend. I have high hopes and expectations after what everyone has said about it, and I'm sure it's going to be spectacular

Re: Star Trek movie!!! - May 12th 2009, 11:22 PM

I've just seen it today and....

OMG, it's so amazing! I'm completely off my rocker. I can't talk about *anything* else today. I mean... woah!
---There might be SPOILERS----
Even if I wasn't such a Star Trek fan (and have been since I was 13), it'd still be a great movie with great actors (*drool and amazing effects, but as I actually have seen every movie and at least most of every series, it's just amazing...
I love how, despite the new, young actors, each character is absolutely recognizable. And there's Spock in it. I always thought Spock was the coolest ever - he's cooler than Oscar Wilde (you don't get much cooler than Oscar Wilde. At least I think so.) And *gasp* now there's two *Spocks*.
I just am so *happy* that this movie turned out so amazingly, because it could have been a disaster. Gonna go again tomorrow.

Re: Star Trek movie!!! - May 14th 2009, 07:27 AM

I actually did go again yesterday - yes, I'm a nerd. So what.
And well, the only thing which annoyed me after the first time I saw it was the German synchronisation (Sarek is synchronised by the same guy who did Spock in the old movies. I don't get why they didn't take anyone else, they must have known people would notice. I can't stand the right voices coming out of wrong characters!).

So I made a point and went to a very small international cinema and watched the original version. It's even better. If that is possible. Scotty's accent is just amazing (you obviously can't do Scottish accents in German.). And I understood every single word (I'm so proud of me).
Such an amazing film!
I love how they kept the funny, optimistic side of it - never liked Nemisis, really, it's too dark- and how they *absolutely* kept in character with all the major roles.

---------There might be SPOILERS----------
And there's two Spocks. It doesn't get much cooler than that. I love how gentle thwe old one is and his "screw logic" approach. And that he didn't go back to the ship bwecause he wanted Kirk and Young!Spock to be friends. Awww....
I always felt like cuddling the young one.... poor dear... obviously Uhura thought so, too... hehe.
Amazing film.

I fear girls liking Star Trek are somewhat rare, but it happens.
And there's a very simple reason why girls will want to watch this one: absolutely *gorgeous* actors.... *gasp*

It was AWESOME! Oh man, I mean, I am not a huge Trekkie, and I can understand why they would have some problems with it, but man... this movie is beautiful. I loved it, and I plan on seeing it again, and buying it when it comes out. I am totally crushin' on Zach Quinto as Spock! It really just blew me away, totally worth every penny!!

Probably not. Girls don't usually show interest in nerdy things. I am a major nerd, though, so... I like thinks like Star Trek, Star Wars, video games, etc. We may be somewhat rare, but we do exist!!

Live long and prosper!!

I'm going to go fantasize about the new hotty Spock *swoon*

Well, Star Trek and Star Wars are quite different, I think. I mean, sure, they both take place in space, and there is some sort of Federation of planets, but... Jedi and Star-fleet can't really be compared. I think they are both wonderful in their own ways.

Haha, by the way, the ad on this page is for Star Trek.

Lol, my mom actually took me to see and she quite enjoyed it (and she is the person who's never even watched Star Wars). Though perhaps a big part of why she enjoyed it is that she watched the TV series growing up and seeing the characters and the actors they cast to play them was interesting to her.

I, myself, really like the movie. I've never been a big Star Trek fan, but I thought this movie was done really, really well. Good story, strong franchise, lots or action, cool visuals. A full package.
