Last.FM - May 9th 2009, 05:28 PM

I have a question about Last.FM. Do you like hook it up to your iTunes? If so, how? If not, what's the point of it?

(little thanks to Just.Tegan for showing me these guys)

Yeah you can "hook it up" to your itunes, you download their last.fm scrobbler and it guides you through it. It's pretty easy to do.

Like Jack said, you can "scrobble" your music--from iTunes, WMP, I'm sure others, as well. There's really no point in it except for your friends to tell you how awful your taste in music is.

Download the scrobbler here and when you're installing it it'll ask you what music players you want music to be scrobbled from like iTunes, WMP, Winamp etc. And when you play a song it'll appear on your account on the site.

The point is to scrobble your music, see who you listen to, how much in a week/month/year/overall etc and to make friends with similar tastes, join groups etc.

You can listen to music on the last.fm site as well FYI. The real use of last.fm (and this is why it's one of the most useful things on the internet) is that it suggests bands to you based on your tastes. I'm not quite sure how it integrates with iTunes - you might have to use the last.fm radio program or the site - but by typing in a band name it plays a song each from similar bands, so you can go band-hopping fairly rapidly.

I only like last fm to listen to certain radios. It means you get similar music to what you like, and new bands. Other than that, it's just another music player.
