I loved the book so much. I find with Dan Brown his books get worse the more he writes, and this was first first, Da Vinci Code the second. I did love it, but, I know I'll hate the movie on principle

I am waaaaaaaaay excited to see this, all I need is the free time to do so. xD

Ron Howard + Tom Hanks + Dan Brown novel = win. (Although, I am worried, since AD is my favorite and I worry about it being done justice)

Aaaah! I read the book ages ago and LOVED it. I loved the Da Vinci Code movie, even though a lot of people didn't. I liked it just as much as the book. I'm seriously excited to see Angels and Demons, should be seeing it tomorrow night if all goes to plan!

Yeah, but you can't let other things persuade your decision. I've seen plenty of movies that the critics and friends said were awful and I saw them and absolutely loved them. Just gotta go by your own gut.

I saw the movie when it premiered!
It was SO good. I was incredibly disappointed at a lot of the major stuff they missed or switched around in comparison to the book. But I definitely still thought it was enjoyable to watch.

Re: Angels&Demons - May 18th 2009, 06:09 AM

I'm going with my mother and sister.

I find that Da Vinci Code and Angels&Demons have pretty much the same plot. He's solving a religious conspiracy, an ancient cult is trying to stop him, he has a hot girl with him who has some key information...

But I don't really have high expectations of movies, so I'm rarely disappointed by them.

I went and saw it, and I liked it much better than Da Vinci code. Some of the plot wasn't exactly like the book, but you always have slight deviations, so I didn't mind.

...I wouldn't exactly call them 'slight' deviations. There were a lot of MAJOR changes. I understand that you can't put everything that's in a book into a movie completely accurately, but there were several big changes. Nevertheless, it was still a good movie.

I would consider a major change something that completely changes the story, and that didn't really happen, as far as I'm concerned. There's only one thing I could think of,to do with the pope, but I don't want to say it as I don't want to ruin it for others.

You don't have to see the Da Vinci Code to understand Angels and Demons. At the beginning of Angels and Demons there's a brief mention of Robert Langdon's actions in Da Vinci Code, and it's clear the church officials don't like him for it, but beyond that, it's a completely different story.

I think that movies are so different to books now that when a new movie comes out that is "the movie of X book" I tend to just assume that the plot will be loosely based around the book -- it saves for dissapointment.

I really liked A&Ds, completely packed with constant action, it never dragged and was one of the fasted 2 hours of my life. Defintley would recommend it.

And yet it's funny... Angels & Demons came first in the books. The two have no link. There should have been no mention of anything DaVinci Code related in A&D at all. That's just my opinion.

It's not like it matters in the books which came first, so it shouldn't matter which comes first in the movies. In the books, Da Vinci Code vaguely references what Langdon did in Angels and Demons. In the movie, it's the other way around. It doesn't change the plots, so it's a pretty insignificant change.
