Long journies. - March 19th 2011, 07:24 PM

I'm going on longish car ride next week. I'll be in the car for about 2-2 and a half hours each way both on the same day. I'll obviously be limited with what I can do, so I was wondering if you have any suggestions? I get bored so easily you see

Do you have a music player? Just put your headphones on. Look at the sights. Bring snacks with you. Play the license plate game. Do you have a gameboy? Bah, road trips are boring, I agree.

There's a lot of license plate games, actually.
There are two main ones I play - one where you look at a license plate, and have to make a sentence out of the letters on it, and one where you pick a word to spell (such as your name) and try and find those letters in license plates.
You could also play Car Cricket, if there's somebody else in the car (which I'm guessing there will be ).
Word games are fun; again, if you have other people who are willing to play. You could play the Alphabet Game, for example. Or, if you feel like being evil, and the others don't know how to play it, you could play the 'I like... but I don't like...' game. Let me know if you don't know how to play that one; it's really easy, once you know the trick.
And there's always I Spy.
I actually like car rides.

If I'm honest, I can't say I know many of these games... I obviously don't go on car rides often

What's the 'I like... but I don't like...' one?? <3

I don't really go on long car rides much either. I just get bored really easily.

Well, the idea is you say you like something, but not something else. Like, 'I like kittens but I don't like cats'. You keep saying things like that, and people have to try and guess the trick. So they'll be going things like, 'I like kids but I don't like goats' - which doesn't fit the pattern. See, people will try and guess how the two things are related - at which point you could throw them off completely by saying something like, 'I like bubbles but I don't like elephants'. (It makes more sense if you keep them close though. ).

Anyway. I'll give you a few more examples, and see if you can figure out the trick (it's easier when you see it in writing). If you can't, or don't want to guess, just let me know and I can clue you in.

I like sleeping, but I don't like beds.
I like books, but I don't like to read.
I like apples, but I don't like oranges.
I like cattle, but I don't like cows.

Get it yet?

Ahh I see. I've never heard of that game before, but it sounds like I can have some fun with it! Thank you for the idea, I appreciate it
