Girl-Girl Duets - March 18th 2009, 07:35 PM

Okay so for my music performance coursework I have to sing with another girl. We're having trouble finding any girl-girl duets. It can be anything. She's alto and I'm soprano. I'd appreciate any help.

Hey Cara,
How about Because of You with Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire? There is also Leave the Pieces by the Wreckers and Breathe with Taylor Swift and Colbie Caillat. I'm sure there are a lot more that I can't think of right now. Just keep looking, you'll find something.

I'm not sure what genre of song you're looking for but how about 'Beautiful Liar' by Shakira and Beyonce? I just love that one :]

Good luck to you both!

I Know Him So Well from the musical Chess

Look at musicals. There'll be quite a few to chose from in those

I agree with Niente about musicals. The musical that springs to my mind is Wicked. With duet songs like "For Good" and "What is this feeling?" Also, try to look into other musicals. You might find a song you like.

Hmm, I don't know if that's much help. Good luck with whatever song you do decide to sing.

I love "Because of You" with Kelly Clarkson and Reba. One of the best duets ever, in my humble opinion. Leave The Pieces is also a great song, I was listening to it this morning matter of fact.

Not sure what kind of music you're looking for, so I'll just list a bunch that I can think of:

--The Soft Goodbye by Celtic Woman (it's technically a trio, but I'm pretty sure it could be adapted to a duet). Also The Last Rose of Summer by them.
--I'm pretty sure there's a duet of The Prayer out there somewhere
--When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt
--Take Me Or Leave Me from RENT
--For Good, What is this feeling?, or One Short Day from Wicked. I've also seen Defying Gravity adapted so the two parts are more equal, with harmonies.

Keep in mind that just because it was originally written for two men or a man and a woman doesn't necessarily mean you can't perform it. Also, if you do a bit of digging, many songs that are not originally written as duets have versions available that have been adapted for two singers.
