Tupac at Coachella - April 16th 2012, 05:55 PM

I got offered a shift working there that night, but sadly declined it. Wish I didn't knowing now what I could have seen. Eminem and Rihanna both also appeared among several other unannounced artists. I could have actually gone back and met everyone since our wristbands are full access, sadly.

What do you guys think about having the hologram of tupac there?

Re: Tupac at Coachella - April 17th 2012, 02:14 PM

I think that the whole hologram thing is interesting in how we experience music. What's problematic to me is that we're no longer experiencing human ingeuinity through the body, but rather, we're experiencing it through technology. Once the technology is in vogue, pretty soon, they'll bring back Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson and every single deceased music star from the past century. Mariah Carey did it once before so that she could perform simeltaneously across Europe - and she's alive. I'm sure with excitement around Tupac, fans will want to bring back the whole Wu-Tang Clan, N.W.A., Biggie through holograms.

The question to me becomes: How long will it take until we stop valuing the live human performance?

p.s. There should totally be a Coachella thread on its own.
