Replacing my chipset fan? - April 8th 2009, 11:14 PM

Greetings,

The chipset fan on my Asus A8N SLI-deluxe died a while back and I can't figure out how to remove the fan from the mobo so I can replace it. It appears to be fastened to the board by these black peg-things.

Anyone know what I'm talking about/how to remove the fan?

Ah, those pegs are annoying.
Just unclip the by turning each peg a certain amount and they'll just unclip right off.
You just have to be careful when intalling the new one, make sure you press them back in firmly, but not so firmly that the plastic pegs snap.
Also, try google, there might be some photographic instructions somewhere =)

There's an online version of the manual (in case you don't still have the paper copy) here: http://www.fixya.com/support/p362849...d/manual-10992
Check through that and it might help.

Also, while searching for information, it seems like that board has a really bad reputation with the chipset fan. I read that someone contacted Asus and got a replacement sent out - you might like to try that.

That makes sense actually...I recently had to help my flatmate install a new motherboard that was a 939 too, and it seemed to have the same fixtures as this one...and seriously...unintuitive design anyone? >.>
