I have a Panasonic kx-tga650b gigarange supreme 5.8GHz home phone. and I want to talk to my girlfreind without my parents picking up the other phone and listening to our conversation. How can i talk with privacy.

Is it cordless? if so, then just take both :P or try the privacy button. or point out to your parents that you're legally entitled to your privacy (or you are if you're in the UK)

There's always light at the end of a tunnel, even if you have to pass a few bends to see it.

Proud reciever of a glance from Kyo xD

Call Privacy Call Privacy allows you to prevent other users from joining your conversation with an outside caller.
To allow other users to join your conversation, leave this feature off. This feature is only available for the handset. To turn the Call Privacy feature on
1. Press [MENU] during an outside call.
2. Press [2] to select “2=Privacy on”.
• “PRIVACY” is displayed when this feature is turned on. To turn this feature off, press [2] to select “2=Privacy off” in step 2.
• In step 2, you can also select “2=Privacy on” or “2=Privacy off” by pressing [d] or [b] then pressing the soft key ( ).
• While the Call Privacy feature is turned on, other users cannot join the conversation.
• Call Privacy will turn off after you hang up the call.

taking into account what Adz found, i would use the privacy button. if your parents do pick up the phone, often it creates static or some noise on the line, or even a clunk when they pick up the phone (if it's corded). so if you know they've picked up the phone, tell your girlfriend you'll be right back and tell whoever picked it up that you're already on the phone. if they were listening, they'll probably be embarrassed and put it down. and if they tell you that they were listening to your conversation, you are well entitled to get very mad at them and have an argument. you might want to hang up the eavesdropper's phone first, so your girlfriend won't hear.
like jessy said, you are entitled to privacy. i believe it's under the human rights act, but someone should check

It's gonna be okay.
