An avi file can be any format inside that avi, so maybe that's why CS4 wont import it. Also, if your CS4 isn't registered, it may be like Sony Vegas in that they don't let you import videos with all the supported formats until you register your program

hope this helps

Hey there. On the end of your file ( video ) Check what the last letters are after the dot, If its Aiv or wmm or something. Let us know what it is, or you can search it on google and that will tell you how to play it or indeed if you need to convert it.

IF you could already play files like that and its the same file type reinstall photoshop or try updating it. Re-installing and restarting p.c helps 70% of most problems x

I've never heard of importing a video file into Photoshop, I think I might have to try that sometime. You might need to either reformat your video to perhaps an .mpeg or .mov file or listen to a walkthrough...thing here and follow what the guy says: http://www.lynda.com/home/Player.aspx?lpk4=53350

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

You're welcome.
The OP seems satisfied, so I'm going to close this. PM me if you want it reopened.
