New phone - August 14th 2009, 05:51 AM

So my contract is up and I want a new phone. Any ideas on what I should get? I'm on AT&T.

Well, it depends on what you're looking for in a phone and what you are willing to pay. So what are you looking for? Price? Features? Style?

If you can put up with it upfront and monthly costs, the iPhone is always a good choice (even though I'm not personally a huge fan).

One that would be much cheaper, monthly plan consider anway, is the Samsung Impression. Which has both a full keyboard and a vibrant AMOLED touchscreen.

If you're looking for something a bit more messaging/business oriented, Blackberries are always good. If you have the money for it, the Bold is one of the better phones out there.

And then of course there is a whole range of cheaper flip phones that you may even be able to get for free.

Also, I just wanted to throw in the idea of getting an unlocked phone (basically a phone that comes from somewhere other than ATT and does not require a contract with them). I have an unlocked Nokia 5800 XpressMusic which I absolutely love. It's a touchscreen music phone with all the music, video, internet, messaging, etc features you could ever want. It even runs YouTube directly in the browser. It cost me about $250 dollars, I am not locked into a contract with ATT, and because I had a flip phone before, ATT still has that in their database, so they charge me $10/month for unlimited internet ($15/month without unlimited family texting, $30/month with a normal smartphone, like the iPhone, from ATT). I went with the iPhone. I feel it was a good choice. Now all that's left is to control my spending in the App Store lol.
