I don't know for sure but are you sure you should definately be able to do that on iTunes? You may be able to... but I never have. Perhaps download a program that lets you do just that?

I believe you have to download a converter. However, in my experience of trying to download a free converter, they've all been riddles with viruses, or out of date and not working....

A good converter is Aimersoft's. I've been using it for years and it's been perfect. Techinically, you can't convert anything with iTunes DRM. But Aimersoft has a DRM-removing converter, so it should work. ^,^

MP4 also works on iPods. MP4 are songs off of a CD, and they work with no problems. Pretty much...if it opens in iTunes you can put it on your iPod.

Re: ITunes problem - January 5th 2010, 05:56 PM

I'm pretty sure that when you rip a CD using iTunes it's m4a not mp4
And I'm pretty sure that (as far as Apple products go) mp4 is usually a video file, although it can be a music file I haven't seen that very often.
But yah, you can't convert to mp3 using iTunes, because Apple doesn't actually like mp3. You'd have to buy/download a program that converts audio. The only thing iTunes can convert music to is m4a.

Oh...m4a. Right. I knew it was an M and a 4...You're right though, LaFin. I should have known that one, I'm on iTunes so much!

Just go to http://www.zamzar.com - they convert files for free and email them to you.
