HOW DO I GET THIS OFF OF THE INTERNET?!

oKAY, i am freaking out right now, so idk if everyone can see it or not. but for fun i went on images and typed in jocelynn, and my last name.
and then stuff came up and GUESS WHAT WAS ON THERE?!

MY TICKERS! and the worst ones to have on there. like 1 ticker was showing what i typed in it and it was my old ex boyfriend that showed how long weve bene in love. and it said exactly what i said which was his 1st name, his last name. everything. ON IMAGES. AND THE LINK TO IT WAS TEENHELP UNDER IT. I WANT IT OFF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ANYBODY CAN SEE IT. ALSO MY SCHOOL FRIENDS ALWAYS TYPE IN PEOPLES NAMES AND MABIE EVEN LAST AND WE SEE WHAT COMES UP AND WE ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD LAUGH ABOUT IT BUT IM GONNA BE LAUGHING IF THEY SEE THAT.

I JUST DONT KNOW IF EVERYONE CAN SEE IT OR NOT AND I WANT IT OFF. WHAT SHOULD I DO?! WHOS KNOWS HOW LONG IT WILL BE ON THERE. YEARS, MONTHS? AND EVEN THOUGH IVE DELETED THE TICKER ITS STILL ON THEIR. SO WHAT DO I DO?!

So you did a search for your name, and came up with an image that you didn't want other people to see? So you deleted the image, but it's still showing up? Try refreshing the page (Ctrl + F5), or closing your browser and then going back to the page. If it's still there, then the only other thing I can suggest is reporting this as a bug of some sort. I think that Google stores cached versions of pages for quite a while sometimes. There may be no way for you to get it off of there short of waiting and hoping it disappears in time.

Just try to remember in the future that once something is on the internet, it needs to be treated as if it is going to be on the internet forever. So be really careful what you put out there.

So I am assuming that is your full name. When I googled that your tickers did come up on images which means everyone can see them. There was 3 showing up when I searched, a self harm one, a birthday one and the one about your ex.

Then I just googled your name and clicked web it came with every post/thread you have made here which means any one can search your full name and find this site through that.

Also when people search the guys name they will come up.

So I definitely suggest changing your signature to remove the surnames.

I am not sure how to get rid of the tickers I think it is what Cody says and you have to just wait.

Ooh, I didn't even think about that. Cody's probably right on the money.

And it's never a good idea to post your full name on the internet... you never know who might do a search for you in the future (not just your friends, but your future employers as well). I was a chat facilitator for "online safety" this past Saturday, so if you have any questions about certain websites in particular, and how you can make certain things private/hidden from the general public, don't hesitate to PM me. =)

I regularly google my name, email address and usernames to see if anything bad comes up.

Most of the time it is only facebook that comes up but I have set that so it is all private.

Also this site is one I want to stay private on so I use a different username to all my other sites in case people try to search my common user names.

Also I have just noticed your avatar and profile pictures are pictures of you. If your friends do find this then they will be sure it is you. If you don't have pictures you can at least say it is someone else just with the same name (it's possible). That will only work if you remove the surnames/ex's name and anything else personal.

Very few sites are safe from Google. And unfortunately, if TeenHelp opted out of being in Google search results, we'd lose a lot of visitors and members.

You really need to treat the internet as if everything you post is going to be there forever and as if anyone you know could find it. If it's something personal, no matter how safe the site seems, don't ever use your last name. We even have a lot of members who won't use their real first names.

As far as there being more you can do, at this point, not really. Even if you've removed everything you don't want people to find, Google has it cached by now and it's anyone's guess as to how long before it all disappears. Just try to be more careful in the future.

It's a public forum so all threads are visible. If you are that worried, you can go back through and edit your posts and set it so your profile isn't visible to the public, which may help ease your worry a little.

If you want, there is an option to change your username. Once you change it, you won't be able to do so again for 6 months and you can't return to your original username (Shattered Heart) for a year.

Yea, I'm not sure what to say but this inspired me to do a search on my e-mail address and I got this "john ******** boy scouts indiana"listed on a random porn site?? Its just an ad for some weird site with like 15 pages of text under it and I fount that underneath. Note that I am a boy scout from indiana and it had my full name, kinda creepy but then again this is the internet. You just have to be cautious with where you put your name and e-mail address and such. Honestly no idea how it got there cause i have never given out my e-mail address for anything like that but **** happens.

The above poster is right, if it bothers you that much those threads are likely to be old enough so that no one responds to it anymore so just edit them to say nothing.

Okay well what ive done so far is ive deleted my signature, changed my name, changed my about me, made my profile private (only to registered users) and now im trying to change my username but it wont let me for some reason. and i cant delete my threads. what should i do about this? if i cud just delete those threads and change my username is wud BE SOOOOOOOOOOO RELIEVED.

You can't edit your posts after it has been 24 hours. That has become an issue to me as well.
It sucks...
There is no way to delete your own threads as well.

You just have to be careful with what information your provide on the internet.

You can only change your signature once every 6 months so that maybe why if not it could be because of this

This is from the Terms of Service, you agreed to this when you signed up to the site.
There is a certain time limit on when you can edit open posts and threads too.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem now since you have removed all personal info. As long as the threads don't contain personal info then people won't be able to trace it back to you. If they do have personal info in them then you will just have to hope no one sits through all of your 180 posts.

If you don't have your name on here people shouldn't be able to find you and they won't realise it is your so probably won't search through all your posts.

you time on TH. It sticks.. whether you dete your profile or not.

So no, unfortunately, you cannot ask an administrator to delete your account.

You should be able to change your username, though... you joined on July 15th, 2009, and it's now January 23, 2010. Try submitting a bug report regarding that (I posted the URL at the top of this thread).

Its not too hard to stay anonymous on here, just don't use last names, a photo of yourself, and even if this was a 'safe' site, where only people who had accounts could access it (I assume thats what you meant by 'safe') there is a v. high chance that someone you know comes on here too. So yeah, never show your second name or photos when you want to stay anonymous. Its a small world

I don't think you can delete your profile. Also, there is no way of deleting threads and posts because, like others have said, the terms of service clearly state that your account or things you have written cannot be deleted. To be honest with you, it is highly unlikely that anyone will find you and search through all your threads looking for information and all that. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, especially since there isn't really anything you can do.
