Which browser? - February 1st 2010, 09:44 PM

I need somebody's opinion here. I just switched to Mozilla Firefox. Before that I used Safari, and before that, I used Internet Explorer. Not real fancy.

I was wondering what browser is the best. I like Mozilla Firefox AND Safari, both for different reasons. So could I gather people's opinions?

Thank you in advance.

I've pretty much always used Firefox, so that's my personal preference. I've used Safari and Internet Explorer before but Firefox is my favourite

I use Google Chrome always. Other than that, definitely Firefox.

Anything but Internet Explorer.

Google Chrome is my choice, however still having problems with the flash plugin so for now I'm using Safari... I have a few which all have their different uses, one of my friends has something like 8 or 9!

Firefox used to be great but now all it does is slow down my internet. It makes me sad because I got so used to it. I'm on chrome now, its the fastest.

I've always liked Mozilla Firefox. None of the other browsers' GUIs are appealing to me, and Firefox is VERY customizable.

I use Firefox, but I also have Internet Explorer and Opera installed.
Internet Explorer is crap, but it came already installed on my computer. I'm just too lazy to uninstall it. xD
I installed Opera for my back up browser, so to speak. When I don't feel like using Firefox I use Opera.
Firefox is definitely the best browser, though, in my opinion.

One thing to point out (for Windows users) many viruses are designed specifically to compromise security holes in MS Internet Explorer. It is NOT safe. I recommend using a different browser (i.e. firefox, which is very secure) as much as possible.

Re: Which browser? - February 2nd 2010, 05:51 AM

I use Firefox, it's easier to know what's being downloaded, and, it's not targeted for any viruses etc, as is Internet Explorer, which can be easily avoided but I had a few bad experiences with IE so I switched to Firefox. It can freeze at times but other than that, no problems to report in a year's use!

Re: Which browser? - February 2nd 2010, 06:51 PM

Firefox is very secure and has apps, as does Chrome and both are fast. I considered switching to Chrome a week or so ago, but it doesn't seem that it has what FF does.. even after the add ons. It's harder to customize by a little, and I also only switched because I thought it used up less memory.. (Virtual? I'm not actually sure of the correct term.. just RAM?) and it turned out that it used more than FF...

So yes, FF from me.

Opera > Firefox > Chrome > IE

IE is the worst browser i have ever come across in my life, maybe worse than Safari..

Chrome isn't that secure, has ALOT of loopholes in.

It's between firefox & Opera. I personally prefer Opera, but if you prefer Mozilla Firefox's layout, then go for that one

lol. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Do you really think your firewall is going to help you when your browser has a flaw in the code and is exploited? Please don't roll your eyes at me, i KNOW what i am talking about.

A firewall doesn't mean anything. What version of Linux??? Linux isn't exactly the best OS you know?? You can't run games like MW2 on it etc. And linux isn't unhackable either. :-)

Well, I use ubuntu, and I never claimed it to be the best OS, though it's pretty flawed saying that it's not good because it can't play some games, though I assure you it won't be long until you will be able too.
Besides, Garbage In Garbage Out, a computer only breaks or goes wrong because the user has done something wrong, so if the user has decent security software they'll be alright.
AND you have to remember that Chrome is relatively new compared to the rest, it won't take long until they iron out the creases.

Never had a HDD or Motherboard fail on you?? How about Memory??

Computers don't just break or go wrong because of user error, sure user error can stuff them up, but the hardware behind the PC is to blame sometimes.

I'm not getting at you by the way

Anyways, take it easy dude. I'm sure the OP has decided what browser they wanna use, no doubt it'll be something completely different to what we suggested!

I really liked Opera and Chrome but had issues with Flash and Adobe plugins which made me unable to access my online coursework.

I hate FF it makes my computer slow so now I use Safari. I like the interface, nice and simple just like chrome and opera.

Ubuntu is clearly the best OS. Just... I need my games. Haha.

And I suppose that the computer is fine unless the user does something wrong.. or they're using vista. xD

(Oh, and additionally.. to the guy who said that Linux is hackable (Sorry, I know that I know you but I'm being brief here..) you seem to be nitpicking, lol. Because every os is hackable and seemingly least of all Linux.
