Sims 2 Graphic Problems? - December 24th 2010, 03:09 PM

I ordered the Sims 2 this week and it came in this morning. It took ages to get working but now that it is, I've made a family and moved them into a house. The only problem is that the house looks really strange. Whenever I put a floor down, it's like it has things all over it, the walls don't show up properly and it just really isn't that good.
I tried moving them into a different house and it didn't work.
When I first installed it, it said that the game was known for having problems and to check for a solution, which I did. It recommended I download and install an update thing, which I also did and that's what finally got it to work in the first place. Except now the graphics are kind of weird and really poor.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Before I installed it, I got my dad to check the manual since he bought my laptop and he said I meet all the system requirements and stuff.
Any help is appreciated.

I know this sounds odd, but when I use a cheat it goes away. I have the same problem.

Does it go away permanently or just while you use it?

If it helps, this is what my bedroom currently looks like.

Sorry. Mine looks different when I have a problem.
Normally it goes away just if I use it once, but if I switch houses, I have to use it again.

Have you tried adjusting the graphic options?

When was the last time you updated your graphics drivers?

I did try adjusting the options but it didn't change anything.
What are graphics drivers and how do I update them?

The easiest way to update your graphic drivers is using Windows Update.

Click the Start Button. If your using Windows Vista or Windows 7 there should be a little bar saying "Search programs and files", in there type "Windows Update" (without the quotations). When you open up Windows Update, on the left side of the windows click "Check for updates". After a while it should be finished. Download and install all the important updates, then click optional updates and look for anything that says "nVidea" or "AMD". Download and install those updates and the problem should be fixed.
