Cracked Ipod screen :( - February 4th 2011, 11:59 AM

I have the latest Ipod touch, an 8gb if that makes any difference anywho i put it in my bag and the screen has got cracked... it still works but I really want to get rid of the crack. I know it is very expensive to get this done so I have some questions:
- Does anyone in the UK know how much it is?
- Is it worth it?
- I heard you can buy screens online and DIY, is this right?
- I'm considering just buying a new one and getting a 16gb

Okay guys opinions please?

Buying a new one will be a lot more expensive then just getting the screen fixed I'd assume...but then again this is apple.

I'd say buying a screen online and asking if anyone can fix it for you would be your cheapest bet.

Also, in the meantime you might want to buy one of those protective cases so the crack doesn't get any worse.

Yeah, well I phoned apple up and they said it would be £82 for a repair which isn't as bad as I thought...... that's probably my best bet isnt it? In the meantime yeah i have a case for it now

That really isn't that bad, I'd go with getting it fixed and if you still want a new one afterwards, sell your current one and use the money for a new one.

£82? o.o; That's an atrocious price -_-. That said, I think that's just apple. You'd probably be able to get another screen for cheaper if you looked hard enough, but you'd need the technical knowhow and stuff, so if you can afford it, I reckon you best just get it repaired by them.

My best advice is get them to fix it, unless your pretty ceratin that you or someone else could fix it.

Look up online:
1 how much a new screen is AND how to replace it (unless you take the part to a store to get it fixed)
2 cost of other places than Apple to repair it (chances are they will fix screens for cheaper)
3 haven't looked at the warranty details, BUT CHECK the warranty details to see if they can just replace the screen for free--Apple does a really great job with their warranty where they'll replace parts for a certain amount of time for free

I don't suggest getting a new one...you could if you wanted to spend the money, but it would cost a lot more.

Leave the past behind, just walk away
When it's over, and the heart break
And the cracks begin to show
