Technology in the 90's - February 22nd 2011, 02:55 AM

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, so move it if it isn't

For my business tech class I've got to do a group powerpoint project on the 90's. Everyone in my group chose which topics they wanted to look up. I chose music and technology. I can't find anything about technology, so anyone have any suggestions?

The rise of Napster and P2P services.
Not much happened in popular music in the 90's, so here's two more topics you might want to consider:
The rise of the Internet
The growing popularity of paying for things on credit.

umm...what? Maybe popular where you lived, or nothing happened with the music you listen to.

1) September 13th 1996: Tupacs Death
2) March 9, 1997: Biggie Smalls Death
3) March 26, 1995: Eazy E Death
4) 1992: Start of the Wu Tang Clan

I could go on and on, the 90's was right great for music, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Is your project about the discussion of music, or music technologies?

If it's the second one, I would say that talking about television as a means of listening to music was popular then (at least for me). Maybe you could talk about ways of storing music from cassettes to CDs? Perhaps, you could talk about the music media programs available on computers at the time. Just some suggestions :]

When every household had dial up LOL

I'll never forget this sound.

So yeah, you could talk about internet connections and computer technology and such. It has improved DRASTICALLY in the last 20 years.

Internet became widespread.
Mobile technologies were becoming more and more popular.

That's pretty much all I can think of.

As for music, I'd say underground music. They originated in the early 90s and still are popular today. Not as much as ten years ago, but you still hear about them.

My favourite bits of tech in the 90's where the SEGA Megadrive and Gameboy Colour.

Also the first phone I every had Nokia 3210.
I didn't get it until like 2002 as it was a hand me down from my brother but it was released in 1999.

Omg @ dial up noise that video doesn't sound like the one my old computer made though

I'll always remember this screen saver:

I actually really want it for my vista laptop nostalgia ftw.

I'll never forget this noise:
