Exclamation Alternative/Formal - April 27th 2014, 12:56 PM

In June I have my work experience, I'm going to court, so I need formal (but also alternative style) clothes to wear.

I'm not sure where to get anything from though, I prefer pencil skirts (above or just below the knee) and hopefully not a blazer/suit jacket.

Any ideas?

Preferred brands are things like Criminal Damage, Poizen Industries, Spiral gothic, Edward Scissorhands...

Hi there! Sorry for such a late response!
Nice pants or pencil skirts sound fine as long as they're clean, modest, and professional looking. A skirt around the knee sounds perfect. I would stick with a collared shirt or a nice blouse on top. A blazer might not be necessary for what you're doing, but people like lawyers will most likely wear full suits.

As for alternative clothing, you could always add a pop of something that you like. Formal courtroom dress is normally quite traditional, but I'm sure you could change a few things up! You might want to try something like adding jewelry, wearing a nice jacket/sweater/blazer that you like, or adding an accessory like a scarf or purse that is your style. You might also be able to wear a nice blouse from a brand that you like with a pencil skirt, but really it depends on how strict they are with the dress code! Good luck and have fun shopping for new clothes!
