Summer bathers - August 31st 2014, 10:35 AM

It's spring now, approaching summer here in Australia, and I want my mum to buy me some new bathers. She won't buy me bathers from the section for girls my age because "all the tops are padded" and I need to wear a padded or textured top because you can like see everything, and I need to wear boardies because I'm self-conscious about my butt. She only buys bathers from the little kiddy girls section and I want her to buy me some bathers for my age but she won't, can you help?

Hi there!

It's frustrating when our parents don't agree with our fashion choices. Have you told her how you're feeling? Before going shopping, you might want to sit down and calmly talk to her about what you want to buy.

If she still doesn't understand where you're coming from, you might want to try some type of a compromise. For example, you can shop in the section for your age, but your mom can approve what you try on before you buy it. Something like that might help her feel like she has enough control over it, but at the same time, you still get to make some of your own choices.

I hope this helped!
