Heart cut out dresses - April 8th 2010, 09:54 PM

I have noticed this new fashion trend and I was wondering what others think about it.

Heart cut out dresses...

http://www.newlook.com/browse/produc...duct=187721549

http://www.newlook.com/browse/produc...estSellerScore

http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Heart-...t=-1&clr=Black

I was out shopping and I picked up a dress I really liked and when I looked at the back it just looked like someone had gone a bit mad and cut a piece out. I tried it on anyway but when it was on it didn't even look like a heart it just looked like a triangle shaped hole in the dress.

Everyone I have spoke to likes them except me, my Mum and my boyfriend but my Mum and boyfriend don't know much about fashion anyway. So I was wondering if it is just me who doesn't get this fashion trend...

I think the ones with the cut out look even worse

I don't mind them, but I would never wear one.
The one with the heart cut in the front is just hideous! It looks better in the back than anything.
But I don't really like them.

I think I'd like the style a lot more if it wasn't a heart. I'm really not a fan of hearts on any type of clothing or jewellry so it's not something I'd go for.

I think I am the same but for me it is because the heart doesn't stay that shape and looks like a hole. If they picked a shape that was a more distinct or found away to make it hold it's shape I might like it more.

I'm going to buck the trend and say I like them
I bought one the other day and I really love it, the cut of the dress suits me as I'm quite a small person and I look stupid if I wear something low cut etc. but with this I can wear it with the cut out at the back and it looks cute :]

Well, I haven't seen these before, but I think the dress in the third picture is gorgeous, so I guess I like them. Not the one with it on the front though, that's just terrible...

I'd feel uncomfortable wearing one, since you'd probably have to go braless so no straps are seen.

I don't like dresses much anyway tbh.

Yeah, same. i can't seem to decide if they're cute, or if I don't like them. I think if the cut-out was less in-yer-face, smaller or more subtle, and was able to hold it's shape, they could look really interesting. But it's a bit dodgy, to be honest.

I kind of like the third one you posted, but the first one looks terrible. I also don't like the front one. So I suppose it depends on the dress about whether I like it or not.

I kind of like the heart cut out dresses. It would definitely depend on the rest of the dress and who was wearing it. If they looked a bit more like hearts it'd be even better.

I like the third dress you've shown - the black one, but not the last one. So I guess, depending on how they're made and how they look on - they're OK. But I dont think it's really a 'fashion statement'.

Re: Heart cut out dresses - April 15th 2010, 11:15 PM

I don't mind the cut-outs in the back, as long as the rest of the dress is very simple. Also, if you have a swimmer's tan like I do, you're just looking to highlight those tanlines (which I happen to not care about, but others do).
However, the cut-out in the front is a bit much. I don't think there's a reason for that.

That being said... I would never wear them, but anything can look good on the right person.

Depending on the dress and the person wearing it, it could look quite cute, except that you can't tell it's meant to be a heart. If I found one that would look nice on me, I'd wear it =)
