How do you do your foundation - July 10th 2010, 09:49 AM

I'm always in search of ways to do foundation perfectly. I currently use rimmel which is good coverage and lasts a good while, but still falters sometimes.

Tell me what do you use, how do you get it to stay on? Do you use tricks like foundation primer or putting hairspray over the top of it?

What do you put it on with? I've always used my hands. I tried using a sponge once and the sponge just soaked it all up which was crap. I've heard people using brushes too but it sounds like it would end up really streaky....opionyunnns?

I use revlon picture perfect foundation. So far its the best I have used.
I only use it under my eyes and in my blemish spots usually. But some days I put it all over my face. I would suggest using only on certian spots and blending it around your face not all over. It gives a more natural look I suppose. At least that is what I think.

I actually use my fingers and a sponge. I apply it with my fingers and rub it in a little bit then use the sponge to smooth it out and finish blending it. I find using both works really well for me, so try that too.

I use Maybellines dream matte mousse foundation and I use either my foundation brush or my hands. The brushes don't make it streaky though at all, it just sort of blends it into your skin really.

I use Mineral Foundation, from my cousin's Mineral Make-Up company she runs from home.

And well, I use a small amount of unscented Shea Butter lotion on dry and stubborn spots, where make-up doesn't like to stay. Then, I swirl my make-up brush til I have a small, even amount of make-up on the brush, then do circles on my face with the brush. For stubborn spots, i.e. pimples and scabs, I will cover up those spots before I do the foundation on my whole face.

i use a mousse foundation and apply it with a brush. doesn't make it streaky.. might do if you had a liquid foundation though.

try mac fix plus to keep your make-up in place.

The other issue with using a brush is I like to carry my make up around. When I leave the house I'm never 100% sure when I'll be back so yeah. Not sure how you'd carry around a sticky foundation brush.

I'll look into the mac fix plus thing

it doesn't get sticky or wet really, not with a mousse foundation anyway. just keep it in my makeup bag and its fine. you can get brushes with little covers though if you're worried about that.

If you carry it around with you, like Ellie said they have caps for make up brushes or they have them with them already on. Also you can go to a store (usually any department store like Target, Walmart, Khols) and buy cosmetic bags and they either sell them seperately or in sets and you can buy a medium sized one that will fit in your purse and just toss it in there.

I have a little makeup bag with it in anyway (My handbag is a bottomless pit, I'd loose it otherwise)

I'll look around for capped brushes.

Any more tips and tricks?

its worth investing in a brush. my brother's girlfriend is a make-up artist and she does mine. but yeah. the brush is the best.

There is a retractable foundation brush here.

http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/in...s&item=brushes

It is an American site and it is fairly expensive but it is the only one I have found so far.

You can also get brush sets like this that have a bag just for brushes and then you can have make up separately. If you don't mind having 2 make up bags then this is a lot cheaper option.

http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~93.htm
This one you get the bag and brushes

Or depending on how much make up you take out with you you might be able to fit everything in this

This one does not include brushes

If you search "make up brush roll" or "make up brush case" on google you can find loads in shops like Boots, Superdrug, Marks and Spencers.

I use Revlon ColorStay foundation and as of now I use my fingers to apply because I get to use up all of it and control where it goes very easily.
In time I'd like to invest in a quality brush .
