Guy Clothes okay for Girls? - August 20th 2010, 06:12 PM

Though I am a little confused w/ my sexual orientation at the moment I have to ask.

Is it okay to be straight (or whatever) and be a girl who wears guy clothes? I've been a tomboy my entire life but according to my parents there's only so far I can take it. I've always worn t-shirts and recently I got some guy flannel shirts.

Personally I've just always liked the look. Being a hispanic girl with curves I've never felt comfortable in my own body and wearing guy clothes actually makes me feel better.

Is there anything wrong with that?

Re: Guy Clothes okay for Girls? - August 20th 2010, 06:45 PM

I'm similar in that sense. I like some fitted clothes, but fitted hoodies are annoying!

I have men's hoodies, I have some girl tees and guy tees, I have some girl's and guy's pants, I own skirts, but also own guy's shorts (I like my shorts long and baggy).

I think it's acceptable for girls to wear guy's clothes, and well, I also think visa versa is alright. But the key is, it just, should look right. I dated a guy who had some girl's shirts, fishnet, and a girl's jacket, and they worked with his look (skinny Goth guy). However, the same outfits wouldn't work on a muscly car guy. You know? And a bleach-blonde tan chick with a manicure would just look silly in a flannel top and baggy pants, I'd think.

So, as long as it works with your look, gender-crossing in clothes isn't a huge issue, in my opinion.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I would prefer guys clothes because they aren't fitted like girls clothes always are. I hate fitted clothes

Yeah. Why is it that girl clothes are always fitted anways? It kind of sucks.

Hmm, guy jeans I never thought of that. It's always hard to find just regular jeans, ie non-fitted or non butt shape, or non-flare jeans. I do have one pair of girl jeans like that but I so wish there were others like that out there in the girl department.

I think wearing guys clothes can look super cute... theres absolutely nothing wrong with wearing them. Girls are always to wear super tight, fitted clothes. Guys get clothes that are so much more comfortable :P

I wore boy clothes in high school. People thought I was a lesbian but I had a steady boyfriend at the time

Nahh I had a tomboy phase. I actually miss it. I find guy clothes soooo comfortable!
Plus their clothing doesn't stick to you and shove every curve and indent, I love that!

So nothing wrong with it at all!

Oh and boxers are the most comfortable pajama pants ever! >.>

Really? I'm surprised... I wouldn't even notice if a woman was wearing men's clothes.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it, unless by guys' clothes you mean "midwestern" style clothes (3 wolf moon shirt and jorts anyone?) Much safer than guys wearing girls' clothes, which I do occasionally (women's boardshorts > men's)

Nothing wrong with girls wearing guys' clothing. I personally love guys' hoodies, they're comfortable! My brother gave me one of his that's black and has a gray skull with other cool designs on it. I wear it all the time.

As everyone has said, there's nothing wrong with it at all. People can wear whatever they want. Your parents obviously have a few issues with it, but that shouldn't stop you wearing what you feel comfortable in.

If they continue making comments, just tell them that you'd like them to stop because ultimately, you're going to wear what you want and what you feel comfortable wearing.

Take care

yeah it is normal to wear the opp sex clothing you don't have to be gay or bi to so. If you love the way you look or the way it feels go for it

Those words were my thoghts exactly! Guy clothes are way more comfortable than the fitted girl clothes. My mom hates me wearing guy clothes and since I'm a minor I have to wear what my parents think best. I feel for you

I wear loads of men's clothes :P I love the oversized shirt look or wearing guys hoodies. I wear a lot of vintage men's jumpers too in the winter because they're so comfy.

I love mens hoodies! When my boyfriend leaves his hoodies in my house, I'm tempted not to give them back haha

when i was younger, my mum used to buy me boys trainers cos i was very hard on my feet...and if they were navy or black, it meant she didnt have to wash them as often as light coloured girlie ones...

I have always worn guy clothes. Ever since I was like 9, I bought the basketball shorts from the boy's department, I still do. I also, sometimes, have to buy hoodies in the guy's department, because after my surgery, my torso was too long for girl's hoodies.
