Wink Best Makeup?? - March 27th 2011, 03:55 AM

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has either a favorite or an opinion on what is the best brand of eyeliner and mascara? And also, instructions or hints on how to apply eyeliner?? ) I know nothing, but have decided to add a little makeup to my routine some days to feel prettier! D

I absolutely live by these eyeliners after literally years of searching for an eyeliner that would stay in place.

Studio Gear's Invincible Eyeliner
I have this in onyx, earth, and graphite. I've had the same little tubs for what seems like ages and they still work just as well as they did when I first got them. The thing I like about this eyeliner is that it has pretty good staying power on the lashline. No eyeliner will legitimately stay in your waterline, but eyeliners can stay on your lashline and this one does. It takes about a minute to set, so try not to look up or blink too much until it's set. Also, like any eyeliner, it works best with a primer (my personal favorite is Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Eden). It'll stay in place with or without a primer, but all eyeliners stay the best with a primer. Coverage for this eyeliner is totally buildable, so you can put on as much or little as you want. I use an angled eyeliner brush to apply it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Too Faced's LONG STEMMED LASHES
I really like this eyeliner because it's bold. The black is BLACK. I usually only really wear it for nights out or something, though sometimes I apply a teeny teeny line of it. This eyeliner is definitely not for people who have trouble with liquid eyeliners. One of the things with this product is that it makes your lashes nicer (which it 100% does for me), but it stings like crap if you get it in your eye. If you feel comfortable with liquid liner and you want bold black eyeliner, this stuff is awesome. I also use the serum on the other end once in a while (since the point is that it makes your lashes better) and I will say that it makes my lashes a lot fuller and longer looking. My only gripes are that the eyeliner stings really really badly if it gets in your eyes and if you stop using it, your eyelashes don't look as nice as they did as when you were using this stuff.

As far as mascara goes, honestly I'm not too picky. I use some stuff by Studio Gear and it works fine for me. I know that in the past I used some of Cover Girl's exact eyelights (I think it was called) for my eye color and I liked it quite a bit. There's some mascara by Napoleon that I know a few girls absolutely live by because it gives crazy length. The Cover Girl stuff is good for a very very natural look and the Studio Gear is if you want to look a bit more spruced up. Napoleon stuff is probably for if you want to look a bit more spruced up or just want to look like you have way longer eyelashes.

I'll see you on the other side.

I've stopped wearing much eyeliner now but before I used to love Stargazer's liquid eyeliner - not sure where you live but you can get it in New Look for a cheapish price

As for mascara I use Rimmel's 1-2-3 Mascara, it's great and lasts quite long.

Also, I definitely agree with Keeley about using primer to keep the eyeliner in place but Urban Decay's can be a little pricey. I use elf's eye primer and it works just as good

I am a HUGE fan of cover girl and maybelline.
They honestly seem the same too me.
But I get those brands for both mascara and eyeliner.
I alternate

For a little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh

I don't use mascara, so I'm not sure ): But I do use eyeliners!

I love gel liners: I use MAC or Bobbi Brown. Some people say MAC is better, others say Bobbi Brown - I honestly can't tell the difference, they're both good! I always used MAC because the store is nearby and got Bobbi Brown recently as a gift, they both go on smoothly and stay on the entire day. I have oily skin, so these products must be heaven-sent (:

Gel liners can be tricky at first because you need to draw with a brush, but it gets much easier as you keep using it. Make sure to get a good, firm brush. Cheap liner brushes will make eye-lining much more difficult than it should be. Black is probably the most common colour, but I actually prefer my everyday-makeup to have brown eye lining. It is a much softer, natural, feminine look - sooo my thing (:
