When I drop the nail polish into the water it doesn't spread out?
And it never seems to dry on the surface properly... What should I do? |

Hey,
Some polishes don't disperse well in the water, so try using a fancy brand like OPI. ![]() The polish is not supposed to dry on the surface of the water. If it did, you wouldn't be able to get it on your nails. If your having trouble with your nails drying, you probably just need to be patient. Give them half an hour at least (if not more) to be completely dry.

Have you tried using some tutorials on youtube? Like this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSI1Jmvwhss Maybe the surface of water is too large? Try using something smaller

Water temp plays a big part in it. If it's too hot or too cold it won't spread. Try and make it barely warm/room-temp. Another thing I do to try and spread it out is to take a tooth pick and pull the edges of it and it sometimes helps spread it out.

There is also a debate between tap water and purified water...I used purified and it worked pretty well. It also depends on the quality of the polish. Cheaper nail polish doesn't work as well (generally, and with the ones I tried) and if it's old it won't work.
I had major trouble getting quick drying nail polish to work, but my mom didn't. Another reason it doesn't spread, and it happens easily with light colors, is when there is too much in the water already. You can clean the water in between each time with a pointy stick thing. "'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.' I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish. 'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.' 'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said. 'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'" |
