Best place to get a fitted dress shirt? - June 9th 2011, 11:15 PM

Hey all,

I have been trying to change my style a little and I have gone from loose fitting [Edited by Fierce] shirts to [Edited by Fierce], better fitting stuff and not wearing jeans that aren't 4 sizes too big. I looks a lot better but I want to do something that is not as boring as this.

I have a couple button-downs but they are too big or don't fit me in certain areas. I know I could possibly have them tailored, but this thread is more for the future because I know I will be losing some weight and putting on some muscle.

Where is a good place to get a good button-down that is "fitted" shirt? Are there places that will take measurements and order a "custom" shirt? First that comes to mind is Men's Wearhouse, but that seems a little too "dressy."

I am also kind of worried about price.

Any thoughts?

Men's wearhouse is not the only store that is suited to men. You could also go to Men's wearhouse just to get fitted and find your correct measurements. That would probably be your best bet because they are a great store for that so if you go there you know your getting good service. So go there to get fitted.
You could go to department stores and such like Macy's, Dillards, JC Pennies in the mens dress section. They sometimes have casual button downs. American Eagle you could look at here:

They have button downs that are more on the casual side if thats what you are looking for. As far finding places that take measurements and customize orders your not going to find any stores unless its places like Men's Wearhouse and that can get very pricy. So if you go and get your correct measurements you could probably go out and buy clothing once you know what you are and not have to worry about buying customized shirts.

Sounds like a plan. Like I said I will probably only get 1-3 shirts just to interchange. I will check out the site. I am just looking for standard solid colors, nothing too fancy.

Not sure how much price will matter since I will not be getting a whole lot. I will need to look into pricing on the clothes themselves and the fitting session. I definitely want to be able to wear em casually though (with jeans).

Do you think thrift shopping is a good move if I can find stuff that fits my measurements?

If your looking for casual then places like American Eagle, Aeropostle, Holister and certain departments in department stores would be your best bet. They have the casual button downs for any time. Places like men's wearhouse are too formal for what you want. Like weddings and such. Thrifts stores can be tricky though, you can get lucky though. But regardless if you want to know your measurements go to men's wearhouse so when you go out you know what size to get. Sometimes you can even go to places like JC Penny's and get measured. I don't know though but I know for girls and our bra's they will fit us for our measurements.
I don't know if where you live if they have stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ross but if you do go there they may have what you are looking for at a really good deal. They get brand name things that are somewhat damaged like a stich may be wrong or they get the brand named over stock and they sell them for like half the price or less.
