I am a super girly girl. I put on make-up when I go to the store. I wear perfume around the house. I'm almost never wearing pants. And, just now as I put on makeup and did my hair, even I'm not going anywhere, I got to thinking.
What's wrong with liking how I look wearing makeup? It seem like even the media nowadays are straight up ATTACKING us who dress up. The 'true beauty' campaigns are wonderful, I admit it. But it doesn't have to get so far. Also, we 'popular' girls are protrayed TERRIBLY. I mean, at my new school, I AM one of the 'it' girls. That doesn't mean I'm cruel, though. One of my best friends is the 'outcast of the grade below me. Popularity doesn't always mean that we are the evil people that are obsessed with hiarchy and trends. My group is a mix-matched group. Alli, the vague little girly girl. Izzy, the self professed 'emo' kid. Marlie, almost exact clone. Nick, the dorky jerky, jerk-off. Connor, the hilarity of the group. BJ, the talkative little runt. And me, the Broadway and music in general obsessed, girly, punk/scene/hipster?. We're the group that would be outcasts in any other school. We're an array of sexualities and no one bothers to 'come-out' to anyone. Because no one cares (in the good way). (Sorry. Had to have a little ranty-rant. )

I'm one of those girls that never wears make up. I didn't even wear make up to my prom. There are several reasons for this
1)I'm a swimmer. I swim twice a day and putting on make up takes up time and 2)costs money. I'm poor and the average American women spends some ridiculous amount of money on make up a year, like 1300. I'm sorry, but I rather spend that on something like food. 3)I'm confident without makeup. I know some girls who would NEVER go out in public, or even out of their rooms without make up on. I think this is so sad. My boyfriend loves that I can wear no makeup and still be confident and beautiful. Now, I'm not attacking you for wearing makeup. I'm stating my reasons for never wearing any. Honestly, I would see if you can go to school without makeup. I feel like it is an addiction for some people and they don't even realize it. They feel like they NEED it, not want to put it on. As for girls who wear makeup and the stereotypes that revolve around that, I don't think they are true for every case. Not every girl who doesn't wear makeup is a tom boy or a weirdo freak who could care less about her looks. The judging happens on both sides and I doubt it will ever go away. Do you want. Just realize that makeup isn't always needed to look beautiful. |

I agree that the media does attack girls like you. I just started wearing makeup regularly this year, and so what if I wear a little just to walk outside? Sometimes I skip it entirely, just because I don't feel like it.
I personally don't think there's anything wrong with that. I like how I look better with makeup on. As long as you aren't convinced that you're ugly without it, I think it's fine.

Never let anyone convince you that their way is better than your way. In the end all we have is our hearts... and our minds. This is the reason why we sing... this is the reason why we cry... this is why we live." ANDY SIXX |

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing makeup all the time. I don't personally do it. I only wear makeup when I'm going somewhere that I'll be for a while. Like school, church, or work. Also if it's a special event I do. But if I'm just going to sit around the house or go to a friends or something like that I don't bother.

There's nothing wrong with wearing makeup if you enjoy doing so. The media loves to attack practically everyone.
The purpose of these "real beauty" campaigns are not to attack women who like wearing makeup, in my opinion. It's more to promote healthy body image. There are some women who feel absolutely inadequate without going through certain beauty rituals. These campaigns are a way to get their attention and say, "You don't need to do this to be beautiful because you already are." |

I do the same (put make up on before I go to the store) because I might see someone I know and I don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed with a fever (because sometimes my skin looks like that).
I'm not much a girly-girl but I do wear make up 80% of the time, whether it's going to the store or a family gathering or I'm going to my friends. I just wear foundation and a little blush for the main part and if I feel like it I'll put on some of my eyeliner or eye shadow and some perfume. I don't see why every thinks its wrong, teenagers do that kind of stuff. There's no reason for the publicity it gets when we are just going on with our daily lives. It's ridiculous. Dubstep. Wub Wub.

I don't really wear make up, I think I look better without it. But if people want to wear make up, I'm fine with it, as long as they don't cake it on. =)
I never wear pants either, dresses and skirts are amazing (Except in winter! )I think the media does that with popular kids because that what it's like in some very small towns where schools are cliquey. (But that's my experience) If they don't like the way you look, they call you ugly. Right to your face. They make fun of you for stupid reasons. Me and my best friend went through that all the time in middle school because we were the outcasts. But coming from a small school I think it was just because they thought they were the best so they made others feel like crap. But like I said, that's just my experience. Your group sounds really nice and I WISH I could've gone to your school. (I'm in Illinois too, just in the north )

There is nothing wrong with it. I can't even walk 5 mins to the shop without make-up, making sure i'm not animal-hairy (Urr..) and my hair looks ok.
I'm not even an 'it' girl, i'm nerdy, clumsy and a bit of a book-worm. BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME NOT GIRLY. And yet, the media don't attack my kinda girl :/ because I don't fit in with the stereotype I guess. I think it's terrible that you should think it's wrong to be the way you are!
