Thicker/more eyelashes - August 25th 2011, 05:32 PM

I'm just curious what you guys do to make your eye lashes look thicker or look like there's more there? I have great eyelashes, but when I put on make-up, it clumps together & makes it look thinner. Thanks in advance!

Perhaps you should try using a different mascara.
I use covergirl lash blast, the one in the orange tube. I find that makes them look bigger, I also use a lash curler. Try that as well. They can be pretty cheap but also expensive. My friend bought her curler for like $15 but I got mine for a $1.

With the combo of using that mascara and the curler my eyelashes are amazing.

I have eyelashes that are very fair on the end, so I use mascara to darken them. Try using a mascara that is smoother and less clumpy.

I used to have the same problem with clumpiness; I just tried out different mascaras until I found one that worked for me. Curlers are great, as are eyelash combs like this one. After applying your mascara, you brush through your lashes with the comb and it separates them while removing clumps. I use one and it works great.

I use this mascara -> http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/cosmet...hitect-4d.aspx
Its amazing. My eyelashes are fair, and not brilliantly long. But wearing this, it makes them look soooo much better!

I've found what I feel is the perfect combination (for my lashes anyway).

I start off by curling my eyelashes with Mister Mascara eyelash curlers. (You can get cheaper brands, but I find that these are good because the area that touches the lashes is well-padded, so you get a nice rounded curve to your lashes, rather than a blunt crease.)

I don't squeeze the curlers more than 3 times.

I then apply Bourjois Liner Effect mascara. (I like it because the brush is not one of those huge bumble-bee looking things , it's thinner and easy to manoeuvre under your lashes. Also, it separates them nicely, making it appear as though you have more lashes.)

Often what causes eyelashes to clump together is if you apply too much mascara. With any brand of mascara, you only need to apply one even coat.

I curl my eye lashes and then use a brush, like this, to untangle them before putting on mascara:

Then I just coat it on. Don't let the mascara dry between applying layers because it'll just clump.

Also don't 'pump' your mascara brush in and out of the tube, instead twist it, this way it prevents air getting in and drying the mascara out, whilst getting more mascara on your brush.

Another thing to do is to clean the neck of the mascara bottle often so you don't get build up <3

I don't I seemed to be doomed to have nice long, spidery eyelashes. Which is unfair as my sister looks like she has black feathers stuck to her eyelids.
Still. I curl them and add a layer of mascara. I change brands all the time, so I have no idea what I'm using now.
Just a tip: Make sure you always take off make up before bed. Leaving eye make up on isn't good for your skin, eyes or lashes

Just a hop, skip and a jump.

If you don't want to use false eyelashes, try and find a mascara that caters specifically to giving your lashes a volumised look. The ones people have suggested are good I think. I've been using Kiko, which is excellent, but I think you can only get it in Italy!! And curling your eyelashes can make a difference as well. At night slick a bit of Vaseline on your lashes to keep them conditioned.
