Is this white dress okay to wear at a wedding? -
October 8th 2011, 07:41 AM
I have only been to one wedding in my life, and this will be my second. Last time, my family criticized me for wearing such a dark color to a wedding (it was navy blue). So this time, I thought that I would ask for some advice. I was going to wear a purple cocktail dress, but I had a
short notice that the wedding colors are silver, white, and red. I'm kinda helping out so I thought that I would match the wedding color but I only have one dress that matches the color. There wasn't a notice that the wedding was formal but it is during the early evening, so I might be able to pull this off but I also didn't want to be over-dressed. Do you think that it's okay to wear this dress? or should I just go with a purple cocktail(a bit less formal)? |

I personally would never wear a white dress to a wedding. I would go with the purple cocktail dress if I was you.

I agree with the above posters. It's not appropriate to wear white, black or other dark color's to a wedding. Black is usually associated with funerals, and white is associated with the bride (since her dress would be white). The purple cocktail dress would be your best bet.

Definitely go with the purple dress, you don't want to match the bride

I would go with the purple dress...
I think the white one looks a bit like a Flower Girl's dress[: Have fun! If you're feeling suicidal please call 1800-SUICIDE,you'll save your life. :]

You never wear white unless specifically stated differently by the bride and groom. Even if you are 'kinda' helping out. Never never never.
Go ahead with the purple dress, besides no one ever really wants to wear something so matchy with the colors unless again stated by the bride and groom. Also just for a future reference. If it is an evening night wedding it is usually 95% safe to say it is a somewhat formal event so you will always want to wear a nice dress. Always remember to put your happiness first.

Never wear white to a wedding, especially if you are part of the bridal party(unless of course the bride asks you to). It's almost like....stealing the brides thunder? Anyways, I'm not trying to say this in a mean way or anything it's just a general rule for attending weddings. And as long as you don't wear black (black is seen as a sign that the person disapproves of the wedding) then you'll be fine, go with the purple cocktail.
Also if you're unsure if its formal or not it's a good idea to go with a shorter dress and some lay back heels, it shows fun and flirtatiousness, which means it can go for formal, semi-formal or casual ![]() Oh and if you don't want to look over dressed a good way to make it look good without looking too fancy is to make sure you don't wear very large earrings. Hope I helped ![]() -Naziri "I never heard you, but I hear you.
