Wedding Attire -
October 9th 2011, 05:09 AM
Hi guys!
I'll be attending my first wedding in a few months and I'm completely clueless about proper attire ![]() I do not know the couple, the bride is my bf cousin. It seems it is going to be an evening wedding, and I've heard that if you're not close to the couple you need not wear a long gown. Can I do this? Even if I'm the date of close family? Cheers! |

Usually, with evening weddings, semi-formal is the way to go and that can be a long or short dress. Worst case, ask your boyfriend's mother what she thinks you should wear, as she may know the bride well enough to pass on that info.

Funny, since I was at my boyfriend's cousin's wedding LAST NIGHT. It was a lot of fun. Depending on how nice it's going to be weather-wise, dress appropriately. The wedding I was at took place in an ice hockey rink since they both played ice hockey. I wore a sweaterdress that came just above the knee, black opaque tights and a pair of low wedged boots so my feet wouldn't hurt during the reception. I didn't know either of the people getting married very well, so i tried to dress appropriately by covering up.

I've been to a few weddings and I always just wore a nice short dress and some flats (I can't stand heels) and I would put my hair half up

Like I said in a recent post most evening/night wedding will be semi to full formal weddings. And of course you can get away with wearing a dress that is not a gown. Cocktails or tea length dresses are a good bet.
Always remember to put your happiness first.
